"All hat, no cattle..."
To be truly Southern is must be followed by "boy"; "Ahm gonna war you out, boyah."
Don't forget the CDB.. (Charlie Daniels Band)
It's on accounta we pronounced it with a short vowel on the second syllable long before we knew what it meant.
North Ala and southern Tenn is where I grew up and you're right. The accent is more pronounced. I can imitate the subtle differences and often do so when people ask where I'm from. "I'us bowrn in Tin-a-see, but growd up in Alll-abama, honey chile."
I hear ya, man. I'm from North Carolina, and my wife is from Lawn Guyland.
Understood. Actually, I was once standing in front of the house I was raised in, and a friend of a friend (who didn't know me) asked me where I was from. I was glad he didn't detect a strong "tri-state area" accent. Although when I speak to friends in Minnesota, I can hear my accent more. CHAWklit ice cream!
Or "Young-un I'm gonna war you out!"
Strange, most Texans I know, including my Mom and honorary Texan myself, have real good senses of humor.
"RETARD: (verb)..." - (noun) - a person of reduced intelligence but fully functional; see "yankee"
My wife maintains a bit more of her middle Tennessee accent than I do. Some time ago she asked me why our dog responded better to me than her.
I explained that I trained Heidi, the dog, to sit and when I tell her to sit she does.
Heidi never learned the command "seeyet". :)
Don't forget to change the ole in the car.
LOL! Best laugh of the day.
Deep fried hot dogs I can understand, but what about deep fried Twinkies and deep fried Snickers?
(Of course, I mean retired)
Crick (n): a small stream, as in fishin' in the crick.
All of this is, as my gramma used to say, enough to drive a dog off a gut wagon.
branch-also a small stream/creek
Y'all otta git in on this heah.
