Finally, there are leaders here trying their best but who cannot gravitate away from western values and logic. These values and approach are often perceived as weakness. Weakness is seen as opportunity for the terrorists. Let's get back to fighting the war, and putting political correctness in the history books as a failed experiment. I think it was Clinton's squeamishness over dealing with unsavory people [odd as that sounds] that led to decimating our intelligence services. Wasn't but a few months ago that everybody thought that was a bad thing. I'm sure "military intelligence" was never designed to be videotaped and sent home to Mom.

Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) told Reuters: "There were some awful scenes. It felt like you were descending into one of the rings of hell, and sadly it was our own creation."After he finished reading aloud from The Divine Comedy, Sen. Durbin took questions from the media.

Yeah, I noticed the total lack of outrage by politicians and especially the liberal media that an American citizen was brutally murdered on videotape. However, from what I gather, the rest of America is angry as hell.

After the bombs, when Americans first went into Tokyo, there were still 250,000 fully armed and trained Japanese troops on the Kanto plain, within a day's march. Many were willing, even eager to die for their country.
Rumors abounded; that Americans would rape Japanese women; that there would be mass retribution; that the Americans would steal everything, including the meager foodstuffs. Every Japanese was waiting for the first confirmation that the Americans were the barbarians that they had been described as. It was a conflagration waiting to happen, but it didn't.
Why? Because Americans didn't rape, murder or steal. The Japanese were treated with honor, far beyond what they probably deserved. Old sins went unpunished but out of the distrust an enduring alliance was born.
We may have missed our chance this time.

I would have to say it's in the top five, if not the top three. That's because I think that what's 'broken' here is much broader than a handful of miscreant perverts acting of their own volition.
So let's give it the appropriate amount of attention that a number 5 on a list of broken things should get, okay?

"Scores of lawmakers yesterday viewed unreleased photos and videos of Iraqi detainees being sexually humiliated and physically threatened."
Yeah, they're mad they haven't seen similar material on their favorite porn sites. The pervs.

I have never seen "Lawmaker" that wasn't stunned. They live to be stunned and if it is in front of a camera so much the better.

Are you going to tell me that in the entire WWII, six of our troops didn't commit some act of humiliation on their captive enemy?
You are a product of our modern day senatorial hearings.

It looks to me like the military was right on top of this thing from the beginning.
I think some of the hysteria has died down and the public is starting to see the incident for what it is-- unacceptable behavior by a few individuals who will receive appropriate justice.

That happened in Northbrook, IL.
A very up-scale, aka wealthy, rich community - and solidly 'D' on election day.

Harumph! More US atrocity stories. Geezze! Whatever happened to the revelations surrounding the Swiftboat press conference and the taped comments of Kerry's 'Comrades-in-arms' dissing him?

Sorry you couldn't pick out the salient part:::::
The solder says :::::
I have been inside this prison several times. I never saw anything like what is now on the news but we did see a general lack of discipline among the service members in there when we arrived.
Is that clear enough. A soldier at that location describes that it IS THE CHAIN OF COMMAND not a 'systematic problem' .... Pay attention to the details.

I wonder if any prisoners got the "chair" or the evil "swirl."The threshold for Arab 'humiliation' is indeed a low bar.

No kidding -- the average SORORITY initiation is more of an 'atrocity' than what we've seen here ....

Lawmakers Are Stunned By New Images of AbuseI'm stunned!
Our worthless "lawmakers" were not stunned by evidence that the disgraced, imbecilic president of the USA was a serial rapist. They weren't stunned when presented with evidence that this marxist-rapist took telephone calls while being serviced by a pudgy, dough-faced, emotionally disturbed, pizza crunching intern.
Some years ago who, amongst the elitist political class congresscritters was disturbed when the evidence surfaced that showed that Senator Edward (Teddy) Kennedy had at least 45 minutes to save a young girl's life, but instead swam his miserable carcass to shore, where he slept and conjured up a cock and bull story to tell authorities the next day.
I thought these miserable anchors around the neck of our nation were never disturbed about anything....especially when they were the perpetrators.

goal of these two outfits is not defeat in Iraq, but the defeat of the President I am sure that defeat in Iraq would be accepted with glee as a fine side benefit.
