That is a REAL danger in this whole sorry incident. The over-reaction to make "amends" is going to GUT our ability to do anything other than "ask nicely". It is a mess.

Excellent post Tex, I agree with you 100%, I don't have any reason to flame or disagree with Long Cut's outrage, what the 6 or so soldiers did in that prison was despicable. The smiling face of that female guard as she points at the crotch of the male prisoners just sickens me because of how much she disgraced the Military and the Country she took an oath to serve.

But that doesn't excuse those who released these photo's. Justice can be served and compensation can be made without trashing the reputations of the vast majority of those who have been serving their Country so honorably by making these photo's available to the public.

IMHO this was orchestrated by, and carried out by, the leftist in this country who do not support our efforts to take the fight to the enemy, before they bring the fight to us. Hackworth's help in releasing the pictures and whoever released the Summery Report to the Media, did a great disservice to our Country, and they should be held accountable for the damage they have done to their Country

We are getting a very one-sided reporting.

Here is just one instance of who the prisoner was and what was done to him:

"Writing "I am a Rapest" (sic) on the leg of a detainee alleged to have forcibly raped a 15-year-old fellow detainee, and then photographing him naked"

But all we read is that some poor detainee was abused by US soldiers.

All these photographs were undubitable stupid, but the detainee who was so "humiliated" was a rapist who raped a fellow detaineed.

I am not condoning wantom "abuse" of prisoners, but things need to be put in perspective, and they aren't.

NOTHING changes the FACT, that the investigations were already on the way, and the photos ARE putting the lives of the hostages captured by the terrorists and the lives of our soldiers in more danger -- they only serve that purpose and the purpose of the Democrats.

They already announced that they won't use hoods or sleep deprivation as part of the interrogation techniques of the terrorists.

Like I said, the over-reaction is going to really bite us. We may as well shut down GITMO. This will also directly affect the two cases in front of the Supreme Court.

I wonder if CBS, Hackworth and the rest of the terrorist shills feel about this

Senator Dayton (D) thinks reporting the news is more important then protecting the lives of Americans

"Senator Dayton (D) thinks reporting the news is more important then protecting the lives of Americans"

===

Obviously.

As Kate O'Beirne put it:

"For many politicians, the danger posed to our troops by the photos that fuel a murderous hatred pales in comparison to the offense to their self-importance by the Pentagon's alleged failure to inform them of the allegations and investigation."

How come they were careful to put hoods over the heads of these people, when they photographed them?

Good Question

Releasing these pictures did nothing but give the US a HUGE black eye around the world, endanger the hostages, and put our troops in serious danger. There was absolutely NO purpose to releasing those photos since action had already been taken.

It also jeopardized an on going criminal investigation

How much you wanna bet their lawyers use this in their defense case

Were these POWs? If they were what the press calls "insurgents," they were terrorists. To be POWs, they would have to be uniformed members of a legit army. These guys prob weren't even all Iraqis.

fire Rumsfeld and replace him with Powell

If Rummy resigns, better to replace him with Wolfowitz. That'll give Kennedy a heart attack.

That's what the investigation is supposed to determine and punish those responsible.

And when your local police begin to act as judge and jury as well, how loudly will you protest? This was not punishment, and it was not the MPs place to punish these troops. What happened there goes far beyond the pale.

We have a code of conduct, we have conventions that we follow. Pound your chest and wave your bloody rags somewhere else - our military - the United States Military - the men and women that I used to serve with - are the Professionals. That's what separates us from them. The animals that we are fighting - they are the ones who get the scent of blood in their nose and go off the deep end. Our troops are the ones who maintain and carry on, regardless.

The apologies are not over. The dumbass soldiers who did this need to apologize to every other American soldier who's life now has a bounty on their heads. Stupid, impudent, childish fools.

You are correct. I wonder what Dem congressman or UN official will demand that Rummy be put in front of the Hague.

Stripping a POW of his clothes in not torture or inhumane treatment that violates the Geneva Conventions, but releasing photo's that humiliate the POW's is.

If forcing subordinates to strip naked is a form of abuse then I have a good cause for litigation against the highschool P.E. teacher I had who made us all strip naked in front of each other and take showers together. If we were not wet enough once stepping out of the shower we had to go back in or take a lower grade.

I was wondering about the issue of releasing those photos and how they play into the Geneva convention. I thought it was against the convention to humiliate POWS by exposing their shame to the world. Will CBS be brought up on war crimes?

"MACON, Mississippi (CNN) -- Former hostage Thomas Hamill says photos of U.S. soldiers abusing Iraqis held in a Baghdad prison affected the way he was treated in the last days before he escaped."

CBS execs. and Hackworth you fu*king scumbags, do you realize you may have KILLED U.S. SERVICEMEN because of your eternal quest for glory!!! I suggest that you all find every inch of television coverage of people such as Thomas Hamill, Pat Tillman and frankly GEORGE W. BUSH and study what is meant by TRUE AMERICANS!!! I can spit nails right now with the anger I have toward you and I hope that you spend the rest of your lives in absolute emotional misery for what you've done. But, knowing that you are all spineless, media grabbing pieces of sh*t, I'm sure this falls on completely deaf ears with the exception of my friends at FR.

Hackworth, CBS... BURN IN HELL and by the way, the blood on your hands DOES NOT wash off!!!

So a few terrorists didn't survive their interrogations.

You're condoning the murder of POWs?

Amazing...

There are those who attempt to condemn all troops based on the actions of a few bad ones, then there are those who excuse the actions of a few bad ones because the majority are good. Both schools of thought are equally inappropriate.
