Liberals love death and hate God....they worship the creature and deny the creator....
Man is made in God's image...Liberals hate God and hate man....

Liberals love all predators both four and two legged...

When decent people start killing dangerous predators the predators soon get the message and move on to easier prey...

A couple of pit bulls in the back yard wont hurt either...bears dont like them...and vice versa

A black bear can weigh up to 800 lbs. (I believe the record is around there), outrun me, out climb me, and rip off the door to the my car. In short, he has me beat except for ONE thing - he can't outshoot me.

But thanks to individuals like fuzzy bear loving Chiappone, if I lived in Jersey, I couldn't even do that. Just be an appetizer for a bruin to please him, his fellow knee-jerk, anti-gun liberal buddies and the wackos in PETA and allied groups - not to mention the big guy in Trenton - McGreevey himself.

True, but me, I'd prefer a pack of Plott Hounds and my good .54 Hawken with two balls and 120 grains of FFF.

Chiappone here needs to go to bear country and live in the middle of it. Maybe the dumbass can learn something about nature.

BTW - The saying "shoot, shovel, shut up" comes to mind if they cause problems.

This sleezeball has probably never seen a black bear in person. So far this year, I've had 3 sightings since January.

Last time, the black bear(~400lbs) was just sitting right outside my bay window gazing inquisitively into the house.

This hunt issue is also closely tied to 2nd amendment issues and self-defense issues.

I blast the bear(even in my house), I
1.) Go to jail
2.) Loose my license to a Constitutional right I already possess
3.) WILL be sued by some lobbyist or activist
4.) End up paying all sorts of court fees and judgments against me.
5.) Automatically, forfeit my firstborn in the whom to McSleezy's stem cell research plan
6.) ........you make it up here........

Those of us in bear counties in NJ know much better than this crook.

I think they should live-trap about a thousand bears from the northwest part of the state, and turn them loose in downtown Trenton.

That would solve several problems at once.

Hypothetically speaking, a pack of rat poison rolled up in a pound of hamburger and left outside would solve the problem quietly, without leaving a bear carcass on your premises.

Just hypothetically speaking, you understand.

I think the people in the "bear counties" - Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon, and Morris, should seceed from Jersey and join Pennsylvania. Then they wouldn't have to worry about urban politicians like this guy. Heck, they could then solve their bear problems by sedating them, putting them on a raft, and floating them down the Ramapo-Pomton River to Essex County!!

Hypothetically, that would cure my area of raccoons, deer, birds, fox, quail, pheasant, turkey, duck and a few others I'm forgetting.

Then other bears, turkey vultures, coyote and the other animals of opportunity would soon be flanking the area, though ;)

He's probably originally from Staten Island, my area is being invaded by people from Staten Island. My buddy was hunting on his uncle's farm last fall and some newplant from Staten Island whose housing tract borders the farm called the cops when she heard gunfire. The cops said hey they aren't doing anything illegal so the woman started a petition to ban hunting in the town. Luckily when it came to a vote by the town council it was narrowly defeated. I'm convinced that NJ's problems started with transplanted Staten Islanders. (No offence to SI Freepers)

Would that be two balls in one shot? Is that advisable?

I've got a T/C Encore 209x50 Magnum. I shoot 295 gr. PowerBelt Semi-sabots pushed by 100 grains of FF Goex black powder. It shoots nice tight patterns, but I've been thinking of experimenting a little and cranking her up to 110, 120 grains, or more to see if the patterns get better or worse. The gun can handle 150.

As far as non-hunting city-slickers deciding what can and can't be hunted and when, it's just a by-product of the urbanization of America. Outlawing cities with a population of over 10,000, with no such cities within ten miles of another's border would be a good first step.

On second thought, nahhh, leave them in their concrete jungles and away from real Americans. Just shut them the hell up.

Not all those critters you mention would eat hamburger, but yes, point taken. I'd bet you have more raccoons and fox than you can really use at the moment, however. The deer, the songbirds, the quail, the pheasant, and the ducks would leave a rat-pellet meatloaf alone.

"Would that be two balls in one shot? Is that advisable? "

I wouldn't try it in a Thompson Center. I believe their barrels are like 15/16 " across the flats - no taper, straight barrel.

My Hawken I built myself with a barrel 1 and 1/8" across the flats at the breech and 1" across the flats at the muzzle, straight taper.

Before I shot it from my shoulder, I proofed it with 2 balls and 140 or 150 grains of FFF.

I don't know anything about in-line blackpowder, never shot them.

But I do know the Old timers DID use two balls at times for dangerous game. During the Revolution and Civil War, they frequently fired "buck and ball" from smooth bores - a round ball with several large buckshot.

"I've been thinking of experimenting a little and cranking her up to 110, 120 grains, or more to see if the patterns get better or worse. The gun can handle 150."

I have a Thompson Center .50 calbier "Hawken" flintlock. Its a fine gun and shoots well. If that's what the manufacturer says. it should be o.k., but be careful anyway. You can always replace the gun, but you have only one head.

When I shot with the NSSA they told me to start shooting a series of balls at different charges, starting with a relatively low one, then gradually increase each by an increment of 5 grains. Shoot each pattern from a rest. As you increase, you'll see the pattern get tighter and tigher, then begin to open up again as you go above the best load for that gun. I'd fire about ten shots for each increment. Also, bullet size and patch size is critical. With a muzzle-loader, you experiment with different combinations of patch and ball size and lubricant, until you get the best mix. The right mix for a lub will change with the temperature at which you are shooting. It makes muzzleloading so much more interesting and challenging.

Above all, NEVER mix modern gunpowder with blackpowder. Muzzle-loading barrels aren't built to withstand the breech pressure of modern gun-powder.

FF generate less breech pressure than FFF, so don't use 150 grains of FFF in that gun, if they say the max is 150 grains of FF.

"On second thought, nahhh, leave them in their concrete jungles and away from real Americans. Just shut them the hell up."

I was born in a city and hated every moment of it. When my folks moved to the country I was the happiest kid around. Spent all my time in the woods and there were big woods out east 50 years ago.

City people have just a different mind-set - most of them. They don't REALLY know animals, the forest. They are like babes in the woods, thinking mother nature is the way Disney shows it. They have no knowledge of or respect for firearms and the very signiicant role they played in our history. In their world only cops and crooks have guns and meat you buy at the supermarket.

Its no accident Sergeant York was from the backwoods. He learned how to shoot by firing muzzleloaders with good ole boys at beef shoots and turkey shoots. That made him a better soldier in WW1 than the city toughs he fought alongside of.

Most city people - they should be walled up in their cities and kept there. They come out to the country and try to make it into another city and complain about hunters and people who have been there before them, instead of respecting them and learning from people who have better sense.

Whenever the issue of rampant growth comes up in this forum I get my head chewed off because I complain of those d@mn developers who buy up farmland and forests and turn them into asphalt, concrete and housing developments and malls.

And really, I have no problem with bears and cougars and wolves around me, as long as I can shoot them if they get ornery. But city folks don't see it that way. They think they can just talk to them and they'll all behaive themselves.

Keep your powder dry, and good hunting.

The bears are dangerous.

Down in the south, we pronounce that "Them bars is farce."

Not yet, but I'm sure it or something like it will.

Also, that leftist McGreevey is trying to re-engineer the New Jersey Fish and Game Council, a body constituted to regulate hunting, into a new creature, filled with animal rights fanatics and Sierra CLub types who oppose any and all hunting.

If that happens, this bill is mute anyway. McGreevey's creatures on the Fish and Game COuncil will simply not apporove of any more bear hunts.
