"Rieckhoff is an Amherst College graduate who spent two years on Wall Street as an investment banking analyst before joining the National Guard. He said he plans now to return to university."

Are you sure he was with the Florida National Guard and not New York?

Apparently, this guy spoke very favorably of the way the war was going back in October while he was still in Iraq. He's now saying that he could not speak out in the interview at that time because he was still on active duty. All he had to do back then was say "no comment." Sounds to me like he's found a home on the Kerry Flip-Flop team.

He was on H&C the other night. He wasn't critical of Bush. He did complain about the flack jackets and lack of different supplies. He complimented Bush on sticking with his decisons. If his remarks are treasonous, ninety percent of our forces are treasonous. He is off active duty until recalled again if his NG group are called back. He said he was complaining about the army getting their act together and straightening out their supply problems so the soldiers under him would have safer equipment if they had to go back in the future.

I didn't see as he was campaigning for Kerry. There seems to be a misunderstanding that the UCMJ prohibits speech. When I was in the service, I critiqued the division commander on some shortcomings I saw and he thanked me for it. We later developed a visiting relationship whenever we came across each other. I get the impression that most civvies think our military operates in the Captain Klink-Corporal Schultz mode. This is not the case. You have to have communication between the EM's and the officers or they start operating in a vacuum.

mark502nd (post36) is correct. In basic training, you were on active duty. Article 88 is very specific and if he is on active duty (even in civilian clothes) he can be fried. Political discussion, (if not personally contemptous) IS allowed under that article, but most base commanders have made written orders not allowing that activity (another violation).

Improving supplies logistics is one thing...making accusations of VP Ceney and President Bush is another...IMO.

"I remember the interview. When he was asked if he planned a political career he repleid"not at the moment". Very J.F. Kerry like."

That was my impression of him. To me he was trying to do the same thing that Kerry did when he returned from Vietnam...make a name for himself to get himself set for a political future. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this kid started an IVAW group.

Two things - 1) Only other company in the world that could have done what Halliburton is doing is GERMAN. 2) Cheney sold his Halliburton stock and gave it to charity before entering office. The critics are truly dispicable.

He was in 3-124 Infantry based in the Florida panhandle region. It is part of the Florida Army National Guard's 53d Infantry Brigade.

Yeah, Halliburton is bad and Cheney is making money off the Iraq war. That seemed to me to sum up his IVAW position.

He's looking for a position in a Kerry-Heinz administration, IMHO.

Let me really rile you up the LTG in question is on the Executive Board for the Girls Scouts, which by the way are in trouble for "close association" with Planned Parenthood teaching Brownies and Juniors.

So long as they don't use their military rank for personal gain or political purposes; then they can by the state AG regs be in some great difficulty.

Verified if you can call it that in a NY Times article that was on a defense news site listing him as in Bravo Company, 3rd BN, 124th Inf Rgt. That's a FLA NG unit.

And to think we used to hail officers that committed the same violations when it was aimed at the last Commander in Chief.

Shhhhhhhhh! We don't talk about hypocracy on FR!

Wow. I've searched my memory, and can't recall any specific instances where the Republican party had an active military officer rebut Clinton's weekly radio addresses on Kosovo or Iraq, or where the Pubbies had an active military officer speaking publically on news media against Clinton.

Maybe you two could post up some links? Thanks in advance. :-)

As I stated on another thread, some of these NG's that called to active duty could very well be responsible for staging the pics of the prisoners. Think about this also. If I wanted to do harm to this country and was in Iraq as a civilian, how hard would it be to spend some money on a couple of soldiers for pics inside the prison.

Right. I've seen this on other threads.

If I wanted to do harm to this country and was in Iraq as a civilian, how hard would it be to spend some money on a couple of soldiers for pics inside the prison.

It's quite evident that there are numerous "Americans" who are openly seditious and treasonous, and would do anything to undermine this country and its security.

These "Americans" would have intentionally leaked critical intelligence information to the Germans and Japanese during WWII.

Maybe you could pay closer attention to the post being responded to. That post was in regard to the guy being on Hannity and Combs, it had nothing to do with any weekly radio address. Thanks in advance :-)
