I feel sure that you are not implying that God is not powerful enough, or competent enough to say all that needs to be said in the King James, and that billions of Prodestants are not wasting their time on the wrong track.

I don't know about the "Prodestants", but I think the Protestants would do well to check out the Books in the catholic Bibles for a little more insight. Or do you think God was only competent or powerful enough to wait how many hundreds of years to "get it right" with the KJV?

One of my grandmothers was Catholic, and I never understood why, after Christ went to so much, evidently unneccessary trouble on the cross, to rip the veil from between men and God, so that we could individually march boldly into the throne room and place our supplications and needs before the Boss himself, that Catholics go to so much trouble to put as many middle men, between themselves and God as possible.

Why not take a gander at catholic history in a way other than through your rose colored glasses and then come to a conclusion?

When I sin, it tears me up so badly, that a few "Hail Marys" just can't do the job for me.

And it tears me up that you think all it takes for us is a "few Hail Mary's" to get the job done. Try letting go of your blatant stereotyping of catholicism before judging something you clearly know very little about.

I have to break down what happened in my faulty character, what circumstances, and many other issues that caused me to sin, agonize over it and ask for forgiveness, then sweat out why God would want to have a thing to do with such a sorry character as myself, and ponder why He would want to bear with me personally for a average life time, much less eternity, while trembling in hope that this "blessed hope" bears out for me in the end. Then I start fresh with a new determination not to fail Him again.

Well, you're very catholic in that respect, try not to hate yourself because of it too much.

Do Catholics do this as well?

If you have to ask, then you truly don't know anything about us other than what anti-catholic bigoted preachers have fed you.

Because I may be out of bounds here, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of contrition, condemnation, or worry about the failings of the Church on the part of a majority of it's members.

Excuse me???? A majority of it's members???? What, pray tell is that supposed to mean? I ask because not only do you impugn me in that statement, but all of the catholic FReepers here. That takes some nerve.

Kind of like Muslims that refuse to condemn terrorism.

Any respect I may have had for you is now completely gone ma'am. You have some nerve to equate catholics with Muslims. You show me a single person more devoted to God and those on the earth who suffer than Mother Teresa. You show me a single organization that does more charitible work than Catholic Charities. Ma'am, before you go casting apersions at something you know nothing about, try learning about it.

Sure there is enough failings to go around in all denominations, but when a Prodestant preacher is found to be a wolf in sheeps clothing he doesn't fare well and ends up broke or with only a few sheep left. Why are there still gays in the priesthood?

And why are there OPENLY gay men and women being ORDAINED in your "Prodestant" (by which I assume you meant Protestant) denominations.

I don't belong to any denomination, I guess Baptist might come nearer, maybe. I don't like what is going on in many denominations, seems to be alot of apostate churches out there. I asked about the Catholic Church only because that is the topic and I have a few questions.

Sure you can point to many churches that are apostate in their doctrine and/or ordaining gays, but to defend yours by pointing to other denominations is a cop out in a way. In fact the reason I don't/won't pick a particular denomination is for the very reasons you state.

I know a few gays that are not comfortable with the idea of gay priests, or church leaders, so not being comfortable about gay's in leadership positions isn t confined to heteros. I don't understand why the members are not more vocal about it.
