uh... Helen Thomas and Ann Goodman are communists right? Or is it just name calling?

First Id like to know what communism is ... read the Communist Manifesto (it will be in your schools library [yes, that place with all the books]).
Return when the first part of your assignment is complete.
PS: a remedial English Course might help.

Here is a hint for success in writing. Spelling is important. Grammar is important. Then it is possible to consider content.

Hi! My name is John Martineu. Im 18 and a student of Dover high School in Dover Delaware. I have been assigned a final term project. We are to do a 20 page turn paper (term paper?) on different subjects. I am doing one on the collapse of communism. Since you coservatives (conservatives) know alot (a lot) about this, I was wondering if you could help me out (delete 'out').
First Id (I'd) like to know what communism is and how it is different from socialism? (replace ? with .) Second I would also like to know about why Russia collapsed. Third could you tell me why you refer to certain people such as Ann Goodman and Helen Thomas as Communists? Finally Id like to know the advatages of Captialism.
Every bit of information will help me with typing this up (completing this assignment). Its (It's) due in a month and I hope to pass with flying colors. I might even post it on Freerepublic when it's done. Thanks alot guys (, after a lot).
John

Second I would also like to know about why Russia collapsed. It was not "Russia" that collapsed. It was the Soviet Union that collapsed (and with it Russian Communism).
3 people to study: Ronald Reagan, Pope John Paul, and most importantly Lech Walesa.
Another precursor to investigate, the "Velvet Revolution" in Czechoslovakia.

Have you started with a dictionary?
A basic net search?
BTW, it is "term paper" and not "turn paper."
Google or DogPile the following:
COMMUNISM COLLAPSE
COMMUNISM SUMMARY
COMMUNISM "STATUS IN THE WORLD"
COMMUNISM CURRENTLY
COMMUNISM INFLUENCES
COMMUNISM WEAKNESSES
That search should find you enough material for 12 term papers. Does your school have tutors? You might do well to seek one out in writing.
Probably outlining would be good to essential for you.
There is a great writing site called OWL--Here's a link:
http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/index2.html You can get handouts on how to write such a paper; summarizing; THESIS STATEMENTS, outlining etc.
I'd suggest distilling the net search down to 3-5 articles, no more than 7 for a long paper; no more than 3-5 for a shorter to medium paper.
Print the articles. Underling and mark them up in a way that it's easy and quick to see what points and data are most important to your THESIS.
You can cut the points up with sissors or just write an outline from looking them over and arranging them in your mind. Or, you can arrange cut pieces out on a large surface.
Amplify the outline somewhat. Probably paragraphs of 3-5 sentences would be fitting. I like paragraphs to stick strickly to one thesis sentence. Some literary types seem to allow or favor paragraphs more like St Paul's.
I suspect your teacher would like some personal response to your data near the conclusion. And, probably a few sentences about THEREFORE, WHAT?
Blessings,

Do you mean "Amy Goodman" from Pacifica (Democracy Now!)? If so, compare her talking points to the variety of books at AKPress' website and see if she doesn't resemble a good lil' commie.

I used to teach freshman English at the University of Houston. If your first essay for me were of the quality of your post here, I'd advise you to drop my class and take it at Houston Community College, where standards are notoriouxly lax. With that substandard grammar and utter disregard for spelling, there's no way you'd pass a freshman English course.

I don't know how your teacher can ask for a term paper on the fall of Communism if you never had any instruction on what Communism IS. I say 'is' because there are still places (God help them) where Communism exists today. Look at N. Korea, Cuba, Mainland China, the place now called Russia which was formerly the Soviet Union...then ask yourself if you think those are good places to live or good examples of government. They are all poor, struggling, unstable, chaotic and weak countries. When you look at the basic domination of all aspects of human life in those countries, then you will have your answers. Communism is a dead letter, it cannot even be successfully exported outside its place of origin and its place of origin, (Russia), will spend the next 30 odd years recovering from its extravagant and foolist experiemnt with 'Communism".

Okay, I don't want to insult your spelling or grammar, but sweetheart...spellcheck is your friend. Your professor will knock off a lot of points just on that issue.
Now regarding your term paper, I would start with Google. First you need to know the origins of communism. Always check and make sure the site is factual and not personal opinion. Then you need to trace how communism spread, and what happened when it engulfed each particular country.
Statistics are good. Show before and after stats about mortality, production, and other important facts. End your term paper with a summary of what happens when totalitarianism goes bad. Also read Alexander Solzhenitsyn's "Gulag Archepelago". Your professor will be impressed....or scared to death ;-) Good luck!

John,
Nothing personal, but go to your Father, or your Mother, if your Father doesn't live with you and ask them to hire a lawyer.
Tell the lawyer that you have wasted 12 years of your life in government schools with nothing to show for it.

First Id like to know what communism is and how it is different from socialism? This is the distinction between Marx (philosophical) vs. Stalin (implementation)
Second I would also like to know about why Russia collapsed.
It collapsed because it became both economically & inherently bankrupt; ultimately free communications enabled enough Russians to realize the whole thing was a big lie which couldn't remain bottled up forever.
Third could you tell me why you refer to certain people such as Ann Goodman and Helen Thomas as Communists?
They are sympathetic to the beliefs, practices & personalities of the communist world, albeit dictators or their policies.
Finally Id like to know the advatages of Captialism.
