Commencement address fever ping!

Yes, indeed, it is an honor and I think it is refreshing to see students making that much effort... getting up early being the toughest, LOL .... to see the President. College kids usually do that for entertainers, not the President.
What good news about your daughter and her class. Her school sounds very much like the ones my nieces and nephews have or are currently attending. Small schools, small classes and kids that have been together since kindergarten. They're all so close that come time for graduation and leaving for college they all go into a funk at the idea of seperating from their lifelong, best friends.

Sigh!!! I wish I were a "special friend," aunt or Nana or something of one of those lucky grads. Don't ya just love this quote:
"I let out a yell," she added. "I am really excited about it. I can't wait to hear what he has to say."
To: Darlin'
What lucky kids. I think I would have been there at 4 in the morning to wait in line. I heard that Laura Bush was supposed to be giving a commencement speech somewhere, as well. That's really cool that so many of the kids are excited to see him speak.
For the kids that graduated Dec 2003, or State Senator John Kyl gave the commencement.

Dick Cheney is speaking here on Saturday, at ... FSU Tallahassee is stuck in a time warp, and the government/socialist workers there are just tiresome. I know the lib profs are concerned that four years of indoctrination (which passes for education) can be undone by a thirty minute speech from this man. I made my daughter read "Telling the Truth" by Lynne Cheney before sending her off to a state run school. Her eyes were wide open.

My godchild graduates tomorrow. She is the "only child" of my
left leaning (not all the way) sister. Her parents waited for this day and they are so proud. I asked her what will she do if the Cheney haters get loud and disrupt the graduation. She said she will confront them and not allow them to ruin the day. Can we count 3 more Bush votes? My sister is not used to public confrontations and ugly scenes. I told her to practice her one finger salute.
She laughed.

I'll be sending all my best wishes to your godchild, your sister, and VP Cheney tomorrow.
My son will be graduating from the University of Georgia School of Law in two weeks. I don't even know who the speaker will be this year. Last year, it was Clarence Thomas. One of the most leftist professors organized a demonstration against Justice Thomas, and planned for a huge crowd - less than a handful showed up!
