No preconcieved notions?? He is doing a story about the life of a conservative BECAUSE he knows nothing about them... how is that not evidence of a preconcieved notion?

What I find amazing is that people on both sides of the political aisle fully believe the stereotypes of their ideological opponents. In fact there are great many Dems who own guns and hunt, are socially conservative, and go to church regularly.

I'm a conservative, Bush-loving Republican, and I own a few guns. But I'm also a tree-hugging, non-religious (but not an atheist), union member. People can have many interests that are supposedly the province of their ideological opps. But even persons who fit the lib stereotype like Stein are most certainly far more complex than libs imagine. Libs constantly underestimate conservatives by falsely believing that anyone who doesn't toe the lib ideological line is one hundred percent their stereotyped image of the unintelligent conservative . As long as they keep doing this, we will have the advantage.

I read the SI article about Hall some years back. I thought he went to Texas where Darrel Royal screwed him up not Bear Bryant?

Thank you for the kind words.

I dont feel Finkel had intentions to paint me/us conservatives in a bad light. I think he was sincere, serious and professional. His questions were consistently probing the 'why' of the matter, which is what he said early on he was looking for. He was looking for what life experiences I had that formed my values.

Funny...the first thing I do when I wake up is read the news also. My order goes like this:
1] Fox News for headlines
2} Drudge for more obscure headlines
3] Free Republic
4] National Review
5] Townhall.com
6] New York Post [love their opinion/editorials]
