Not only did they give her a C, they took away all your paragraph breaks.

Here we go again, another idiot playing the race card and living off of his lawsuit money.

I wonder if he would be so quick to sue if we had a "loser pays" system.

What a fine example he's setting for his kids.

Sickening!

Ivan Hurd, a horse trainer and former police officer, is not new to the federal court system in Fresno.

Last year, nearly seven years after he sued Fresno County and former reserve Deputy Sheriff Bill Richardson for false arrest and other claims, Hurd settled his case for about $700,000, including about $250,000 in attorney's fees.

Hurd, also represented by Little, at one point had been awarded more than $880,000 by a federal court jury, but the amount was reduced later by a judge.

When the going gets tough.....the tough..... turn pro (H.S. Thompson)

A half a million clam judgement..goes a looooong way in the neverending battle for..... 'racial equality'

I hate the fact that "grades" are assigned to P.E. classes. I think they are simply to sujective for grades.

When I was a freshman in high school, I had the unfortunate experience of getting my P.E. grade changed to a D minus, from a C, because the instructor noticed me "slacking" during sit-up exercises.

Problem: I had (and still have) a pretty bad adhesion due to an unneeded operation to remove my appendix. Many years later, the operation was described by a physician as being "botched up". It still causes me a little bit of trouble, not serious though.

But, a D minus?

At least she got a C!

Just being "the best runner" doesn't earn you a PE "A." I believe, students are also graded on attitude and "suiting up." She may be a great runner, but I'll bet that she's learned her "I don't have to follow rules" attitude from her dad.

She might earn an "A" in being a "b."

I'd be interest to know the exact details of this incident. In any case, it is not a big achievement to be a straight-A student in most study fields anyway.

I don't know about that. When I was in high-school, we were graded according to our performance in the Cooper Test (running as far as possible in 12 minutes). Of course, fatso and the nerds got low grades.... man, what kids need is a more Spartan P.E. system.

From the sounds of it, she may have a valid case. I'd like to hear the teacher's side of the story before making any decisions. Based on what was in the story (all one-sided), however, she appears to be a track and field athlete with lots of accomplishments in addition to being a good student. That information suggests that there is more to the story than meets the eye. If her grades have been consistently high, then she has a point.

However, as stated previously, I'd still like to hear the teacher's side of it. Having worked as a substitute teacher, I know that what the kids tell their folks versus what really happens are two completely different things.

I don't understand, why the low grade? I find it hard to believe an honor student excelling in track would make a low grade. Sounds to me the teacher did use her authority to put a bad grade on her record.

Personally, I think P.E. (and health) classes are a waste of student time and taxpayer money.

My daughter's peers (9th grade) have been taught to brush their teeth, wash their hands and how to put a condom on a banana. The culmination of their class was caring for electronic babies for 3 days and nights.

My daughter (homeschooled) instead has a Red Cross Baby Sitting certificate, Food Handler's Card, State Certification as a Lifeguard which includes her EMT certifications in CPR, etc.

And yes, she is already employed for the summer.

Giving PE a grade is stupid. I hated it it. And on top of that I had my fair share of lesbian gym teachers. You can't measure someones value to society based on how good of a Jock they are.

A low grade in physical education....

It should be based on objective measures and not subjective.

There should be 2 or 3 physical tests given during the semester. Distance run (2 mile), sprint (100 meters), strength (bench press), abdominal (sit-up), lower leg strength (leg press.)

Those in the top 93% should receive an A, 85-92=B, 77-84=C, etc.

Those are pure individual events, and the student either is in the top group or is not. Purely objective.
