Pat Tillman: Strong-willed and humble, former Cardinals star was indescribably rare

No, he wasn't.

He was a Man.

Senator Liberman [sp?] was on Sean Hannidy and they were talking about him and other servicemen and women.

After what the democrat party, with the full support of Lieberman did to the military residents of Florida in the '00 election I do not see how any democrat can look any serviceman, or woman in the eye.

In my opinion, that was the most despicible thing that has ever been done to military personnel.

If anyone does not know what the democrats did Freep Mail me and I will respond by same to enlighten you.

Is anyone besides me surprised, disappointed, or even angry at the relatively low-key presentation of Tillman's death at nfl.com?

I know the draft is tomorrow and all, but to have one headline story (admittedly the first) and one other small reference to him on the home page is pretty weak.

Eli Manning said that Tillman's death made the draft going on in the next two days seem pretty small. It would appear that the NFL disagrees.

I just got back from the make shift memorial The Cardinals have set up in front of their training complex in Tempe. Lots of kids and parents there, signing messages for the Tillman family. Many local TV news stations there too.

It's a beautiful set up. I wrote a message, left a candle for him and said a prayer.

The only bad thing was one lone creep out on the curb blasting Bush (being a "draft dodger") trying to ruin the whole memorial. He was largely ignored, if not scorned.

Tillman is a class act, and a true American Hero. We have been blessed by his sacrifice.

RANGER CREED
Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of the Rangers.

Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster, and fight harder than any other soldier.

Never shall I fail my comrades I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong, and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one hundred percent and then some.

Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress, and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow.

Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country.

Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission, though I be the lone survivor.

Why is Pat Tillman not being referred to by his proper title? He was a soldier. He died a soldier. Soldiers have names and ranks. Why is that no one in the media can find the respect to call him by his name and rank?

Rest in peace, hero.

A rare case where the use of the term "hero" is completely justified.
