Two pieces of a highly radioactive fuel rod are missing from a Vermont nuclear plant, and engineers planned to search onsite for the nuclear material, officials said Wednesday.

"The startling seizure prompted Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-Nassau) to call for a renewal of the 1994 federal ban on assault weapons, which is slated to expire Sept. 13."

You are correct. The killers at Columbine used a couple of shotguns, a 9mm carbine, and a pistol. This article is an embarrasment.

Wow.....this guy is just making it up as he goes along. There were no AK-47 type rifles used in that shooting. The "reporter" has a serious agenda going here.

An earlier article on the same subject by the same author was posted on Free Republic yesterday. It was just as incoherent and nonsense filled as this one.

The standards for getting hired as a reporter on the NY Post don't appear to be too high, and most certainly do no involve the ability to write clearly or have any knowledge at all on the subject that you are writing about...

"Carry if you can, practice often, keep plenty of fresh ammo and be ready to shoot."

Yup.

I live about 4 miles downriver from that nuke plant and am having bad vibes about the whole situation...

The night after 9/11, when it was eerily quiet out, suddenly heard a military jet zooming back and forth, back and forth, over my house- come to find out there was a small plane buzzing over the nuke plant that night, and they never caught who it was, but the jet searched for a while.

Then I read about arab student "tourists" who've tried to gain access to the plant for supposedly scholastic reasons that were turned away.

Now missing nuclear fuel and AK47's.

It's unsettling.

"AWB renewal hysteria in the making?"

That is exactly what this is.

Illinois Governor Blagodimwit is hot to trot to ban ALL semi-autos, even shotguns.

Nope. There is nothing wrong here at all.

Century Arms is a good company. I shop there from time to time, and drool over some of the stuff on their website. They deal in antique, curio and relic, and some older East-bloc firearms.

IMHO, they were (are?) gambling on the AW Ban sunset. When the AWB sunsets they want to be the first to offer some nice semi-auto AK stype weapons with all the trappings (30 round magazines, bayonets, pistol grips, etc.) that have been banned for so long. It won't make them a fortune, but it has the potential to make them a tidy profit. Can you blame 'em? Personally, I think its great that they work so hard (and risk so much) anticipating the customer's wants.

This is just a combination of anti-gun bias, anti-terrorist hysteria, and some fuddled paperwork. Literally, there is nothing to see here - Move along!

The startling seizure prompted Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-Nassau) to call for a renewal of the 1994 federal ban on assault weapons, which is slated to expire Sept. 13.

"We know al Qaeda training manuals have encouraged terrorists to obtain assault weapons in the United States," she said.

Carolyn, you ignorant slut. Normally I would suggest that you are just stupid but with the enormous number of Dem's and RINO lefties exposing themselves as dedicated and determined enemies of this country I cannot give you the benefit of that doubt today.

Tell us, Carolyn, why would a ME terrorist come to the U.S. and pay $450-$800 dollars for a semi-auto AK when a full-auto AK can be had for $75-$150 every day of the week throughout the Middle East, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and Africa? Hmmmmmmmmmm? Why?

Furthermore, thanks to a strong state Constitution, even the full-auto AK is legal here in Vermont. I would welcome a warehouse super-blow out sale so my wife and I could buy two or three AK's apiece. It's rather quiet up here usually but Vermont seems to be a crossroads for crack and heroin addicts traveling from Boston to Montreal for weekend parties and ME terrorists in Montreal heading to Boston. (for prayers at your Mosques or jobs at Logan I presume) Since we can't afford 24 hour security guards like the politicians have I'd like to be able to defend myself, you elitist pig! ; )

VT eh? I have always been told it was the southern rednecks that were feeding guns to the gangs in the northern cities. Perhaps a little mythology from the media?

I'm also skeptical that these were bound for terrorist cells in the US. We already have enough guns to arm insurgents - if that's what they're serious about doing, the land battles on US soil would have begun without the need for more semi-auto eastern bloc knock-offcs.

Have you told him that cheap single shot rifles make the best most accurate assassination tools? Just a thought. LOL

Meanwhile ... nowhere to be seen in the American media ... AlQueda WMD plot foiled in Jordan. Huge bombs and chem weapon smuggled from Syria.

Officials: Group Plotted Jordan Attacks

Don't worry too much about the AK-47's. There is one on the wall at Nelson's Hardware in Barre, several in Parro's Gun Shop in Waterbury, probably a few at Snowsville General Store and at least one for sale in at least half of the stores that sell guns here in VT.

I still haven't figured out what a SKA rifle is?

A weapon to shoot alternative musicians?

Could it be the SKS?

Legal shipment?

Not after the photo I saw on Fox last night.

These weapons were piled up every which way, just thrown in some giant metal shipping container.

This was no legal shipment. From the way this looked in the photo, there was no attempt to keep them all nice and shiny for re-sale.

I don't know but this is a cartridge:

This is a bullet:

And this is not a 'clip' and it is not a 'cartridge.' This is a magazine:

A detachable magazine to be specific.
