>>The purpose here is clearly intended to offend non-Muslims. It is one more reminder that they are gradually infiltrating our society. Today the loudspeaker; tomorrow the minaret. Wake up America!<<

IMO, it's to drive the last of the Poles out of Hamtramck. This would make it another Dearborn.
Some beautiful churches down there. St.Hyacynth and St. Florian could easily go the way of St. Ann's in NY.

Yeah, not only that, but I would not want to live anywhere near where the call to prayers were being broadcast any more than I would want to live next to church bells. Our society is way to noisy as it is. And if the Muslims are as faithful and devout as they claim, surely they know when to go into prayer mode.

Patience, patience my brothers..they will show themselves for what they are.
Islam demands submission, brooks no moderation.
There is no "Religion of Peace" there...eventually American society will realize this. Else, why not allow Kali cults or mini-Manson families?

9/11 was nothing, just a mere drop in the bucket compared to what's coming. The Religion of Peace has declared war on the infidels and they are winning. Very soon, much sooner than any of us suspect, the Islamaniacs will be the majority.

These people need to join the Twenty first century!

Even the nineteenth century would be an improvement beyond imagination.  They had clocks then, too.

Doesn't the air, through which these sounds must travel, belong to everyone.

Perhaps this frequency is regulated by the FCC?  Surely if your neighbor's radio is too loud, you have a defective muffler, your dog won't shut up, you can be ticketed just about anywhere.   The question is will the inevitable complaints be addressed or will the cops be afraid?

It's much like the high-pitched yeowling of a tom cat in perpetual heat.

"Arabic call to prayer" from a mosque...in the United States of America?

This is a problem of immigration policies. The INS and the Federal Government, under the influence of secular humanist, anti-Christian cultural relativism and moral relativism, adopted the wacky idea that all cultures and civilizations are equal (which is why there are so many free, civilized societies in Muslim parts of the world - IRONY). They might as well allow the local Manson Family groups blast a call to prayer.

Is this the kind of cult that will issue fatwas calling upon Muslins to kill Americans of "the Great Satan"? How could any such organization of collective psychotic insanity be tolerated in a civilized society?

I was here during that period, and I don't remember any deportations other than for cause--e.g., the person had no visa or committed a crime.

Besides, "scores" wouldn't scrape the surface of the mooselimbs in this country.

Well, of course, I never meant to suggest the Mohammedans were deported because they were Mohammedans. They were deported for the reasons you stated, but they did happen to be Mohammedan.

As far as I know, Japan is a pretty homogenous society, and they want to keep it that way.

"So...how would you square that with Amendment I? One faith can't do a practice quite central to their faith, while another is able to, but only when you want them to?"

It's well established that religious freedom doesn't extend to killing. As the mooselimbs practice that, and are in fact once more at war with Christendom, the First Amendment is no bar to interfering with their Jihad.

"Basically, what you're saying is that since Christians are persecuted in other areas of the world, we should persecute people from those areas here, solely on the basis of their religious affiliation?"

No, his point is that a "religion" that is so intolerant itself, and which practices terrorism, has no moral right to demand tolerance of others.

When "tolerance" turns into a suicide pact, you've gone too far.

After thinking on it overnight, maybe we should let them give the call to prayer five times a day.
Let's also test the tornado warning sirens five times a day, at the same time!

Oh, wait! There is not much difference, is there!

I'm confused. Your ad hominem appears to address something that isn't stated or implied.

Eh...my bad. I conflated your post with others, and you see the resultant screwup. Consider it retracted.

Last I knew, some guy hollering in Arabic, telling Muslims it's Prayin' Time, isn't something that in itself has ever killed anyone.

No, his point is that a "religion" that is so intolerant itself, and which practices terrorism, has no moral right to demand tolerance of others.

Why the scare quotes around religion? Has Islam been declared a non-religion despite the protestations of its adherents? Which raises the question - should the government be in the business of declaring one moral system a religion and another not?

AFAIK, the overwhelming majority of Muslims in this country are decent, liberty-minded people. While there are without a doubt some here who we have to worry about, there are a helluva lot more wackos Over There, and they have guns that they're aiming at our guys.

"Last I knew, some guy hollering in Arabic, telling Muslims it's Prayin' Time, isn't something that in itself has ever killed anyone."

Trying to take that in isolation from everything Islam is and does is an offense against right reason. A single cancer cell never killed anyone, either, but a failure to deal with cancer at an early stage certainly has.

"Why the scare quotes around religion? Has Islam been declared a non-religion despite the protestations of its adherents?"

Those are not "scare quotes;" those are "bitter irony quotes."

I dispute that Islam should be considered a valid religion, based on an overview of its history and demon-ridden theology.

"Which raises the question - should the government be in the business of declaring one moral system a religion and another not?"

When a group practices terrorism, the government should suppress it. It is not necessary that the government bring theology into that.

"AFAIK, the overwhelming majority of Muslims in this country are decent, liberty-minded people."

If they are, then they are bad Muslims. Good Muslims are not decent, liberty-minded people. That being the case, it is folly to encourage the practice of Islam.

"While there are without a doubt some here who we have to worry about, there are a helluva lot more wackos Over There, and they have guns that they're aiming at our guys."

So, we should sit complacently by while the whackos Over There build a fifth column in our midst? Look at France. The mooselimbs there have already become a force that the ethnic French are afraid to confront. Large areas of some French cities are "no go" zones for the French police.

All through Cold War I we had to put up with people ridiculing the notion that the Soviets were a danger to us, that they were anything other than a peace-loving and benign cuddly bear that we were needlessly antagonizing.

Seems like we're seeing the same thing with regard to this latest Muslim attack on Christendom.

Jan Sobieski, where are you when we need you?

Local Detroit Channel 4 news has just announced that the Hamtramck city council voted unanimously to allow the blaring of this call to prayers. There was no decibel level set either. The locals are furious.

Be afraid.

Hmmmm. Time to vote out the city council. I wonder if the citizens will have the guts, or will just wallow in apathy.....
