This young woman is dead because the people given the responsibility to protect her from people like this Rodriguez POS failed to do so.
Some years ago, Megan Kanka was abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered by a man who was both a convicted sex offender and allowed to live in a halway house. A law was passed that would require released sex offenders to register with state law enforcement and have their names and places of residence released to the public.
Obviously this was not enough to save Dru Sjodin. And I, for one, am sick of it. I am sick of the lame sentencing guidelines for people who commit the crimes of child molestation and rape. I am sick of hearing ad nauseam how these people, upon their release, recommit their crimes and then kill their victims in an attempt to conceal their deed. And I am sick of these apologists and coddlers who claim sex offenders just need psychiatric care and oppose every facet of Megan's Law.
The time has come to call your state legislators and demand they pass legislation that requires a sentence of no less than life without parole for sex offenders. This shall become forever known as Dru's Law. Please ping everyone you know and push as hard as you can to get this law introduced and passed.
