Asked about the allegations by Insight, Maugein denied he was involved with either company, although he did acknowledge knowing their principals, with whom he had worked as an oil trader with Marc Rich in Switzerland.

...discredit France, a longtime friend and ally of the U.S."
I don't think the actions of France over the last few years qualify them as a friend or ally, but closer to an enemy.

Gee, do you suppose this will push Clarke off the front pages? </ sarcasm> Our networks and newspapers are picking apart the hair of Ashcroft and Rice like they were scamming to create a war or kill Americans. The media in the US is the problem.

"directly will implicate world leaders"
A team of international forensic investigators is preparing to blow the lid off the much-disputed U.N. oil-for-food program in Iraq and will present new evidence of corruption at an upcoming congressional hearing that directly will implicate world leaders and top U.N. officials, Insight has learned.
I love Insight, and I realize this will sound petty, but its house style always drives me nuts. It's like hearing chalk screech across an old blackboard. ... that will directly implicate, dammit!

Too bad this isn't a slow news day, else somebody might actually report this outside of Insight ...

The unreported allegation is that Iraq, prior to U.N. possession, smuggled around 850,000 bpd to Syria and Iran. That inventory never even made it to the Food for Oil ledger. That's 150 million barrels of black market oil turned into untracable hard currency over six years. In the responsible hands of Iraq, Syria and Iran.
To: alrea
I to have a feeling you will never read about this in any mainstream pub.
To: Shermy
It is time for people to learn the U.N. is more about greed than peace.

To: Tailgunner Joe
JFKerry today told college students that we should turn Iraq over to the UN.
To: Big Horn
The corruption of the UN is precisely why the criminal enterprise democrat party enmasse wants the U.S. going through the UN for everything. The democrats don't know any other way than through corruption, as proven by their being led by the likes of MacAwful and sinkEmperor and hatellary.
