I'm an Idol fan. I don't mind having the President bump the show, but I think Fox is nuts for re-scheduling an ordinary selection show against the 2 hr. live finale of The Apprentice.
There are a lot of tv hours in a week, and not so very many popular shows.

I actually think it's possible that the person involved in the logistics of this was unaware that AI is on Tuesday nights-- that they are totally out of touch. Hell, they could have easily done this Wednesday night and bumped the results show to the second hour of primetime. I remarked on the dup thread that I guess, now, he'll pre-empt the final Friends ep for an encore. I'd like to think that Karen Hughes would have known this was dumb. People want to think their president is like them. That's why it's so good to paint Kerry as an uppity Frenchman. People like to imagine that the president is knowledgable about the pop culture things they know about. Would we be happy to know that Bush was watching a Lifetime movie during the Superbowl? Of course, not. It would make him look out of touch. Being president is about instincts. You base your guess on their instincts on silly things like this. It may not be fair, but it is political reality.

It's strategery. He's making happy those teeming millions who want AI pre-empted so viewers will be forced to watch programming on VH1. Don't you see?

Right, no TiVo. But I'm not alone.
