I think it is the overabundance of women wearing too tight shirts with rolls of flab hanging out. And tattoos on their backs, peeking out from beneath a too tight and too short shirt. Maybe my eyes were only recently opened to such. Are folks less self conscious now????????
The older I get, the more modest I get . . . leathers and copper notwithstanding. Clothing is to conceal a multitude of sins, and frankly if it's made of Spandex it doesn't conceal squat.

Well, some women just can't get older fast enough!!!!
My hubby would have spanked me if I had asked the guy why he was buying socks and frozen broccoli. We were laughing about it when we reached the cashier, and she wanted to know why we were laughing. We told her, and she and the cashier on the other aisle just died laughing. I guess they see a lot of strange purchases. (And I'm sure I've made some strange purchases.)

Well, we don't have any sayings here for it, I don't think. But I do like "bless your little heart." I've used it quite appropriately today a few times.

No way!!! Were they really? I can't believe that. I'm sure they were thinner, in the age of no-super-sized meals... but, who really worked out back then?

A Perfect Lady and I got into it a few times, but after clawing each other's eyes out (metaphorically speaking) we sort of declared a truce. I am sure that she is a she, and she has too much pride and self-respect to post a photo of a stranger and claim it as her kin. JMHO.

The honest to gosh truth is my mom has always worked out. She worked out in the 50s. It was one of those gyms where they put a strap around your behind, and it moves back and forth quickly. Didn't do a darned thing for your body, but I guess it made her feel good.
There were some crazy contraptions in those days.
But getting the clothes off the line after a storm and smelling the fresh aroma from them the next morning is just waaaaaaaaaaaay to out there for me. I thought it was a joke thread initially.

Xena's Mom remembers butt-bumping in the mid-'60s in college. The sorority girls (Pi Phis, in case you're curious, but I'm betting more than one Chi O did it too) would find a door or some wall space, stand in front of it, and bash it with their hineys over and over and over again. This allegedly "broke up the cellulite," sez Mom. (This from the woman who was ironing someone's hair when news of the Kennedy assassination came over the radio.)

I remember tagging along with my mom to the gym in the early 60s. There was this machine that had rollers on it, and you would sit there and let it run its course around and around over and over again.
There was nothing of what I consider to be physical, just as you say, breaking down the old cellulite.
P.S. My mom at 78 is still swimming one mile a day.
