Just read this morning that he whipped out his checkbook and made his donation during the Mass. How obvious! Most people I know make their donations quietly.

Democratic presidential candidate U.S. Senator John Kerry (news - web sites) (L) (D-MA) leaves after Easter Mass at the Paulist Center in Boston, Massachusetts April 11, 2004.

1 Corinthians
Chapter 11

28
A person should examine himself, 13 and so eat the bread and drink the cup.
29
For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment 14 on himself.
30
That is why many among you are ill and infirm, and a considerable number are dying.

Catholic Ping - let me know if you want on/off this list

Ah, but they hide behind their positions with excuses like:

"I believe abortion is a mortal sin and I could never do it. But what someone else does is between them and God"

or

"The Bible says judge not lest ye be judged. So, I can't judge other people, that would be a sin".

I have an aunt who claims to be a staunch Catholic, she is a card carrying Union-Democrat who worked for a dem Congress-monster. Those were two of her most popular excuses.

When I lived in Boston I went to this Church a few times. Every mass was full of left wing politics. It is a great scandal. No one does anything to stop them.

Well said. Kerry brings up Vietnam, so his medical records are fair game. Kerry attacks Bush with scripture so his standing within the church is fair game. Kerry wants it both ways and it's not going to happen.

There are others, but far too many are politicans first, not shephards.

>>>>Concensus. You get the idea that a lot of bishops want to present a nationally united front. I'm not sure why, exactly.

Long prior to Archbishop Burke there was a California bishop who denied communion to a pro-abortion (decades ago, I believe) and he was pretty badly attacked over it, and left on his own by his fellow Bishops. Not many who want to be standing out there by themselves. It is nice to see at least a couple though.

It is a hopeful sign. Even some of the politicians, are becoming more aware of their duty to be shepherds. One can pray that the Spirit touches more of them to take courageous stands.

The Bishops should first cast the beam out of their own eye.

As reported by Father Pavone.
"Here is another real outrage, taking place at Seton Hall Law School on Friday, April 16, 2004. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who is notoriously pro-abortion and voted to strike down the partial-birth abortion laws of more than 30 states, is presenting the annual "Sandra Day O'Connor Medal of Honor" to Judge Maryanne Trump Barry of the U.S. Court of Appeals, the pro-abortion author of the opinion striking down the New Jersey partial-birth abortion statute."
