Way back in the 1500s the Japanese, almost alone in this practice, were still boiling enemies alive.
Maybe somebody reminded these jerks that if they'd gone to school and studied world history like they were supposed to they'd found out all about the Japanese (who, among other things, pretty nearly conquered China and a lot of other stuff back in the '30s adn '40s.)

I repeat WHAT WAS THE STICK !? Agreed. Or perhaps they are getting ready to terrorize the world again and needed an audience. Hold tight everyone.

The Association of Muslim Clerics .. and good for them, too .. getting awfully tired for people of influence in the Muslim community to speak out against these savages. About time for them to prove it if, in fact, they are a "religion of peace"

I'm now leaning more towards the "all a staged event by peace activists" theory.
Why else would they be released?

WHAT WAS THE STICK !? They threatened to send in the Ninjas

I dunno... perhaps the japanese said they would send the equivalent of four battalions of "peace keeping" troops to the region... if the people were not let go.
Instead of two.

I don't trust them! Something tells me that they are going to release these hostages but only after they kill them. I pray it won't happen, but I put nothing past these animals.

It's simple.
After burning and doing other disgusting things to those Americans they are looking to get the world to say "See. they aren't so bad after all". Then they will try to focus the press on American atrocities in Fallujah and elsewhere.
Besides, someone must have told them how the Japanese treated people during WWII and that's enough to scare even the "People of Peace"
