How typical of liberals in current day America. While claiming conservatives and specifically Republicans are racist, they can not get past the color of Condi's skin.
Even at the hearings yesterday, as mentioned in the article, Commission member Kerrey made an attempt at flattery to Ms. Rice about her background. All I can assume is in Mr. Kerrey's "hear up his anus" existance, black women can not achieve much in the US and if they do it's an abirition.
Thank God we have a president who see's past skin color and looks to the people who are best for the job when putting together his administration. Now if liberals would just learn this lesson.

I noticed the exact same thing -- I even checked the Wash Post -- they have no mention of race.
I chalked it up to the ignorance or something of the author who apparently sees some legitimate analogy between the National Security Advisor of the United States of America and some woman on an alleged "reality" tv show.

Tokenism is alive and well in the Democrat party. They still are not comfortable being around Jews who practice the tenets of Judaism, as evidenced by the short shrift they gave Joe Lieberman. The Democrats are still very much a rich white man's secular party, funded in large part by the wealth of trust funds and easy fortunes. Oh, they pay lip service to the "working people", but none of the common herd rise very high within the hierarchy, as evidenced by the paucity of elected officials that might be considered "working class" who are higher than city aldermen. A few of these aldermen get elected to the Congress from districts within the larger cities, but they are definitely an isolated class within the national party.

Ah, that last paragraph said it all. Swat, bash, slam on Mr. Kerrey who recommended responding to the attack on the USS Cole by attacking Saddam Hussein!
CONDI WINS, CONDI WINS!!!

From her testimony yesterday, that was the slam dunk. I am waiting for the rest of the shoes to drop today (or hopefully soon) when the White House de-classifies the memo democratic commissioners are making such a big deal over, as well as the orders from the WH to the FBI/CIA/NTSB etc to tighten security over increased chatter.
Ms. Rice did a fabulous job yesterday standing up to the blatent biased attacks against her and the administration. Too bad the particular reporter for this story has to turn her testimony into a racial statement.

Even at the hearings yesterday, as mentioned in the article, Commission member Kerrey made an attempt at flattery to Ms. Rice about her background. That was so condescending! "Why, first let me say you've done so well for a colored girl!" Grrrrr!
Then she beat him up and took his lunch money :)

She also looked small and unprotected, seated alone at a conference table with roaming photographers shooting at her back.Anything to minimize her presence and message.
The liberal spin machine&#trade; is alive and well among the Washington press corps.
Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)
Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

The liberal spin machine
The same spin machine that see's racists behind every corner that someone in the GOP has passed by in the previous 20 years.
Amazing isn't it, that she can't be praised for her testimony, the way she handled herself under very difficult circumstances. How she was able to control her temper against obvious partisan attacks. Instead the color of her skin get's brought up.

What was refreshing was to see a black, intelligent woman who presented herself well, stood her ground in the face of fierce criticism and DID NOT play the race card to get sympathy.
That is what seems refreshing [and rare] to me.

I agree with everything you said. Let me deviate just a tad off this path but still head in the same direction. Regarding the "race thing" in America. I have an idea that is a win/win situation for the Bush/Cheney campaign and a lose/lose situation for John Fonda Kerry. The GOP needs to force Kerry to state where he stands on REPARATIONS. If he is for it, he alienates many, many Independents as well as DemoRATS. If he is against it, many black Americans will stay home on election day.
I just don't know how to get this idea to anyone in the Bush/Cheney Campaign. Any ideas?

I find it telling that the media is largely ignoring the fact that Bill Clinton testified before the 911 Commission behind closed doors.

I find it very telling that the democrats on the panel came unglued demanding that Rice testify, under oath, in public yet not a peep from the democrats or the republicans on the panel that Clinton or Gore do the same.
Considering the majority of attacks happened during Clinton's watch. That the 9-11 highjackers planned their mission during his term and that nothing was done to combat terrorism was made during this time, seems more relevant to me to hear Clinton's excuses for his inaction.

The question of reparations is basically a non-issue to both parties. The GOP can not bring it up or else they will face another barage of "you're a racist" from the far left.
The democrats can not bring it up or else they risk being embarrassed by the far left wacko's who support reparations.
I don't think we'll see reparations as a campaign issue anytime in the near future.

The difference between Condi and many of the black politicians on the left is that she is not ONLY black, and they are black FIRST. Condi and Powell are Americans FIRST, and their color need not be noticed at all, which is as it should be. When the minorities finally get the notion that their color doesn't mean anything, then they may well be headed toward success in life, and indeed, truly being and accepting this American identity.

I'm not amazed at all. There are many black women who work in high level positions who do not play the race card to get ahead. Same goes for black men. Unfortunately we hear more from the ones that pull out the card more so then those who don't.
Once again, the squeaky wheel gets the grease and we are given a false sense of what really goes on.
