Were any of you guys still awake and watching on Election Night 2000.......I was too drunk to remember what time I passed out.
I went to bed thinking Dubya had won.

Sorry :)

Well, you ruined it for me. I wanted to believe a liberal had just stooped to a lower level of stupidity than even I thought possible. On the + side, whenever there's a tomorrow, there's always a better than good chance that some DUmb 'rat will do just that!

Yep. I remember that smarmy little yuppie with disbelief on his face just TRYING to find a way to get his guy to win that election night. Here he is a 'senior editor' for Newsweek and he truly did not understand the fact that the so-called national 'popular' vote means nothing, only the separate contests in the 50 State contests and the District of Columbia. Oh, he probably know the technicalities of the Constitution, but you see his guy Gore SHOULD have won...
That election night explains why I and all other viewers can not take such a child seriously, he didn't get his way, but was determined to make the system give him the result he WANTED. Very child-like and as you related Browkow and Russert (his more mature compatriots) put this petulant youngster in his place. When every I see his smirking visage I think back to his tantrum that November night...
Very 'Ivy League'...

A do nothing president who kicked problems down the line, leaving the problems to emerge far worse.

I've read and heard enough of Alter to not see anything out of the ordinary from those statements. He is a die-hard Clintonite and Bush-despiser. Now even that scoundrel Clarke admitted that the Clinton admin ignored his warnings about A-Q and that 9/11 could not have been prevented. Alter should change his medication. The hallucigens he's on are a bit too strong.

A friend once told me that all Newsweek was good for is toilet paper. I told him why would he allow bad crap to wipe away good crap? He switched to Time! :@)

Pretty poor attempt at April Fool's humor. I don't appreciate the September 11th reference either.

...Clintons steady, nuanced leadership? As President Bush stated, he doesn't do nuance!
