I don't. I was looking for facts to refute it to the lefty who'd sent it, and made the mistake of making it my first article post, last week.
Please read this entire thread, before you start jumping all over me. The swelling's almost gone down from that pummelling, pounding and punching.

It'd be nice if it were that easy, but then we'd lose the fun of shooting them.

This happened several times in Rhode Island, in the nineteenth century. The graves of the vampires (most of whom really died of tuberculosis) are tourist attractions.
And the incidents can't be blamed on Eastern European immigrants, because there were none to speak of at that time.

Ok
maybe ...
I can see you would be bruised from being zotted right out of the gate ....but I find this Bush flash thing so offensive I cant help but be suspicious.

So do I, but I didn't know enough history to refute it. That's why I posted it here to get some ammo to rip the lefty a new one. It worked; she hasn't written back, and I was educated quite fully by many FReepers on that days thread. I've spent lots of time reading their info and links. It's very offensive to me that such crap is produced and not exposed as lies. I was just trying (albeit ineptly) to do what I could about it.

And I had always thought that vampires consumed the flesh of the living.
Where'd you get that idea? Vampires are blood-drinkers, not cannibals.

Before Toma Petre's relatives pulled his body from the grave, ripped out his heart, burned it to ashes, mixed it with water and drank it, he hadn't been in the news much. I usually just dig up my relatives and lop off their heads. That's worked every time for me so far.

When did Night of the Living Dead become a vampire movie? It's about zombies. Get your monsters straight, yo! :)
You and the covers around your neck . . . vampire movies did that to me too. I had a Winnie the Pooh that fit exactly over my neck. I'd sleep on my side, with Winnie standing guard (okay, guarding while laying face-down) over my arteries. He must have been a crack vampire slayer, 'cause I never got bitten, and what other explanation could there be?

And I had always thought that vampires consumed the flesh of the living. Who knew it was the other way around? That would be a zombie. No vampire that I know would ever stoop to such vulgarity.

This time last year, I was one of the Count's vixens in a local community theater Dracula production. Stephen, who played the lead, counted off vixens exactly like that. He was always bummed that he only got three vixens, but we pointed out that we were outstandingly hot and should count for two or three vixens each.
Here's a shot of us, if you can see it (I'm the upper-right vixen):
If not, cut this here - http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/68178e3d/bc/Mail+Attachments/__sr_/Cast.jpg?phKbHcABtRbKQjk8 - and paste it into another window. That might work.

That's WAY old school! And cool, too! William Marshall was quite an underrated actor. I have heard rumors that the version of
Othello in which he played Iago is around somewhere, and I would give much to see it.

What do you use to lop? A shovel works well, I find.

What do you use to lop? A shovel works well, I find. A machete is much easier to handle. It also leaves your other hand free to hold the Crucifix or grab the Holy Water, if necessary.
You can never be too careful in these matters.

Oooops, my bad. There was a late-50s vampire movie about a cowboy sheriff, silver bullets IIRC, that scared the crap outta me, too. Do you remember what it was? Maybe NOTLD is what I'm thinking of? Too many years and brain cells ago. I just can't remember, anymore.
Funny stuff about the bed covers. Sure worked for both of us, didn't it? I'm chuckling so hard I've got a few tears coming out.

Seriously, there have been some cases where vampires may actually be real beings. But, the evidence is very sketchy, unlike demons or ghosts.
As for this case though, this is just a case of misguided superstition leading to people desecrating the body of a loved one. Petre was not vampire.
