I work with a number of 20-something (Jewish) interns at my office. Some were Dems prior to 9-11. But I've heard them praise George Bush and the Republicans. And I suspect many will vote the same way at the young conservative guys they hang out with.

But, I don't care. I think it's quite normal to feel kinship with one's ethnic or religious tribe abroad.

Hispanics and then (some)Jews are most vulnerable to turn our way.

Blacks?....not in my lifetime...the old urban legend that as blacks achieved middle class they would turn right is a myth...they mostly stay Dem regardless of income.

Women? married with children white women are already strongly conservative....the sapphos and career babes are mostly unreachable.

Just my view....suburban and rural Hispanics and particularly Hispanics that are not Mexican, Puerto Rican or Dominican are the best targets in my opinion.

I don't really get the whole FDR thing myself. But they think he was a hero. Even though he didn't bomb the railroads that led to the death camps when he could have.

FDR also turned away thousands of Jews fleeing Nazi oppression (after they reached American shores), and they ended up in the European concentration camps. FDR-lovin' American Jews ignore these facts like the plague, of course.

Sort of like how liberal Jews and Blacks are always in the same political bed yet nearly every liberal black I have ever known bar none is a raving Jew loather underneath....and many Jews live (and die...Schwerner) to "save" the oppressed black man ...which just makes blacks angrier already....one of politic's great paradoxes (or is that a dichotomy?...it's late)

Funny too is that Christian Arabs are mainly Righties but have been getting nervous lately which again doesn't make much sense when one sees how much Arab Islamists loathe Arab Christian Infidels.

Some folks need to do some self examination methinks.

It's (sadly) true that many Jews new to the GOP are here for reasons pertaining to Israel. (For this Jew, however, it's about taxes, guns, national defense, property, and cultural concerns. .....Israel is way down the list). But perhaps after a while they'll begin to appreciate the full-spectrum of conservatism. .....and least one can hope.

Citing common cause with other countries is longstanding in this country. It started with the Democrat-Republicans in the 1790's.

Unfortunately, Zionism is probably the best solution. Most Jews are liberal on all other issues.
