Whoops, I'm also a supporter of Vice President Cheney. I simply believe that Mr. Card makes quite a few valid points.

Not the least of which is that we need to position ourselves properly not only for this election, but for 2008.

Besides, it's high time!

I thought we were beyond judging people on the basis of the color of their skin.

I like Cheney very much. Still, politics get more and more contact sport lately, and the power of incumbency should not be neglected.

I, also, very much colorblind, but realize the reality of attracting voter blocks (for the obvious reason that too much orthodoxy and uncompromising positions are bad for the electability and getting anything done at all).

I think it would be a mistake not to think about the future, but very much open who exactly should be groomed at the VP post. Out of these three candidates, I am against Powell. I'd like to see more names of any background discussed here.

Yeah, you're right. Thomas would be the dream candidate... but he's needed very much where he is.

Former Congressman J.C. Watts Jr. of Oklahoma is not Presidential Caliber. Like Jack Kemp, he is very bright for a quarterback, and adequate for a congressman, but hardly suitable for Commander in Chief.

I'll go for Condi Rice. She is a winner now, and in '08.
The present bad publicity over the 9/11 comission is a good test under fire.
It will toughen her, and it will blow over.

The dog that isn't barking is this: Why doesn't the peoples party have a minority for VP? I demand it. Let's see it. Harold Ford for VP. The Dems are gutless if they don't do it. What do they fear? Do they not trust their own base to be free of racism? Gutless, gutless, gutless.

The Dems are gutless, but Harold Ford will still be under 35 this fall. I think he will be a strong candidate in '08.

But John Kerry better not be counting on American blacks being slow learners.

Why not? They voted heavily for Al Gore. The Democratic Party has had them in its pocket for many, many years. Voting preferences aren't going to turn on a dime.

If a black is ever on the Republican ticket, the Dems will just do what they did in Louisiana; revert to their dixiecrat roots and spread racial hatred. And Jindell wasn't even black!! Don't expect any of the Left's "progressives" to care about the racism.

Ohhhh, I don't know. I think that candidate will simply be called an oreo or an Uncle Tom. The Dems could go after the individual rather than fanning blanket racial disharmony, and still retain the black franchise.

Alan Keys can run circles around anybody in the debates. He is very articulate. What is he doing now? I did not see him since the tanking of his talk show on cnbc (or was it msnbc?)

Here is my personal favorite who won't run. He explains why:

Thomas Sowell "My Platform" Conservative Radicalism.
