Reuters and the Associated Press have way too much power in this country. They, more or less, dictate public opinion, as they power so much print and internet news.BINGO!

They are making a mockery of one of the most devastating attacks on our country... 9/11. This so called commission is using the attacks of that day to serve their own agenda and they don't care who gets hurt in the way. You mean they're capitalizing politically on the trauma of 9/11? Only the republicans do that! </ sarcasm>

I wonder why the media never mentions how Clinton stalled Ken Starr's investigation into the Monica Lewinsky affair for months by claiming executive privilege for anybody who knew anything. Remember how he tried to keep the Secret Service agents from testifying?

This article isn't even close to being good reporting. This guy shouldn't have a job if he's not capable of getting such basic concepts straight. Terence Hunt is your typical slack-jawed liberal spinmeister. When he writes his pro-Rat articles there's drool trickling from the corners of his mouth.

MR. McCLELLAN: No, I'm saying that all those discussions and all these issues that you're bringing up are discussions that we work with the commission on in a spirit of cooperation. And it's better for us to work with the commission to address these issues than for you and I to try to work these issues out here from this podium.
Q What about Dr. Rice, Scott? There's reports that she will meet with the commission on Saturday. Is that correct?
MR. McCLELLAN: I expect she would be treated just like any other White House official. Like I said, we've been making administration officials available so that the commission has the information they need to do their job. We are working with them in a cooperative way. And that's how I would address it.
Q Can you say if White House officials, including Dr. Rice, are providing information under oath?
MR. McCLELLAN: I'm sorry?
Q Under oath?
MR. McCLELLAN: Well, again, Terry, what I am saying is that we are committed to making sure that the commission has all the information they need to do their job, and do a thorough job, and complete that work -- complete their work in a timely manner. We have provided them unprecedented cooperation. We have made administration officials -- let me just go down kind of a list of a few things here. There have been more than 100 briefings, including the head-of-agency-level officials briefing the commission. There have been some 500-plus interviews. We've provided more then 2.3 million pages of documents to the commission, as I cited a minute ago. And we are continuing to make sure they have all the information they need to do their job.
Q But does the White House have a flat policy of not wanting officials to provide information under oath?
MR. McCLELLAN: I think that there are lots of ways to provide the commission with information, and these are issues that we discuss with the commission and work with them to make sure that they have that information. So that's the way that I would --
Q So you're open to providing --
MR. McCLELLAN: No, I wouldn't -- I would state it the way I did. We're working with the --
Q Could I get an answer to the question, which is --
MR. McCLELLAN: We're working with the commission on all those issues and we're making sure that they have all the information they need to do their job.
Q So that is a yes or a no?
MR. McCLELLAN: Well, again, those are issues that we discuss with the commission. And we work to make sure they have the information they need to do their job.

Q Dr. Rice, with all due respect, I think a lot of people are watching this tonight saying, well, if she can appear on television, write commentaries, but she won't appear before the commission under oath. It just doesn't seem to make sense.
DR. RICE: Tom [Brokaw], I would like nothing better, but there is a constitutional principle at stake here. I'm here before the American people. We're not hiding anything. You can ask me anything that you want; any journalist can ask me anything that you want. The commission can ask me anything that it wants in private. It can put it in its report. The public will know everything that I know. This is a matter of constitutional principle. It is not a matter of personal preference for me.

Well since you seem to be enjoying playing AP reporter can you show any precedant where a National Security Advisor has been required to show up to a Congressional comittee.
Just a point for lurkers. Condoleeza Rice was not and is not required to be confirmed by Congress.
BTW, GSC, did you and Richard Ben Veniste(partisan Clinton democrat hack) have a good brunch today.
Oh yeah Ms. Rice has already appeared before the committee. Funny how you didn't mention that.

Of course, the Clintoooon knee pad wearers (the bulk of the media) will say anything to get their way. They believe that only they should determine public policy, and events should not be constrained by the law!
To: Dane
I was only providing you with the information that Rice, in fact, hadn't been sworn in before testifying, as I suspected since the same principle that would keep her from testifying in public would keep her from being sworn in. I didn't say anything about her private meetings with the Commission. Of course Condi isn't required to speak in public and/or under oath before the Commission. She'd have already done so were it required. No reporter is suggesting that the WH is breaking the law. What does being a lurker have to do with knowing or not knowing that NSA nominations aren't confirmed by the Senate?
BTW, GSC, did you and Richard Ben Veniste(partisan Clinton democrat hack) have a good brunch today.
We ate Eggs Benedict (Arnold), eh?
