Rutan is standing on some pretty giant shoulders, here. Without the benefit of all the knowledge and experience of NASA, he wouldn't even be close to this first small step. And the main technological challenge, the rocket engine, isn't even built by Scaled Composites. When I see a picture of him on the moon, I'll change my tune.

Of course. When you restore a car you are standing on the shoulders of giants too. I am just pointing out it always cost government more money to do something than it should.

I was wondering what happened to Rutan's ship. It's been 3 months since it made a flight. Still a faster turnaround time than the shuttle.
