The media's done their best to keep this secret. All I keep hearing is how Bush is failing miserably.

I'm sure you all have a caption for this one.

So why does Rasumssen show Kerry with a two point lead in its tracking poll?

You ask me the polling expert?
It's not just that Bush is ahead in this poll, but other of his numbers are also on the upswing, according to this story.

According to the poll, most Americans believe Bush says what he means while
Kerry only says what people want to hear. It's going to be a long eight months for you as you continue to implode, Johnnie.

The libbies were not incredibly enthusiastic about him. They only want him instead of Splean because they assumed he would be most capable of beating Bush. Strategic campaign abstractsions are not what fire up supporters.
Plus he boring, very boring. Even though most of the things XXXlinton said were BS and hogwash, at least he wasn't nearly as boring to listen to as John F. Ketchup.

Why did Scott Rasmussen miss the 2000 election so badly?
It's way too early to put much credence in polls other than possible trending over some period of time. In 2000, exit polling showed that 30% of the voters made up their mind in the last 30 days with 17% of those making up their mind in the last week. If that holds or is even close then the election is far from being decided at this stage of the campaign.

The last month was as good as it was going to get for John F. Kerry. From here on out, its downhill for him and my guess is he'll slide down to his base of support in the high 30s to low 40s and remain stuck there for the rest of the year, unless something unexpected happens on the domestic or the foreign front to change the picture. With eight months to go, the Bush campaign can't become overconfident or complacent and should fight the campaign as though the President were in fact behind. We need to roll our sleeves up and work hard through the summer to put Kerry away for good.

Meg,,I think I am just constantly worried about what could go wrong. This is as bad as the last election which shocked me at how close it was. I don't think we will ever get a 10 point lead. Five points maybe, but 10 would only occur if John Boy went down fifth ave in NY naked shouting Allah Akbar.

Bush will win in a landslide of Nixonian proportions.
Kerry is already wearing thin and we have just begun!
Not all democrats want a president favored by terrorists and the French!
Kerry is pompous and short with us little people. Just saying you are right does not make it so.
I will be very interested to see what the FEC comes up with ala soros et al.
