What I'd like to know is where are all the Vietnamese complaining about these so-called atrocities?

And why is Jim Wasser getting so much more time than Gardner? I know. I thought "is the the Jim Wasser show? Why does Kerry need another campaign commercial?" This guy was just sad. All talking points, almost put me to sleep.
This is almost the same stuff I heard about JFK's PT-109 crew.
I wanted to hear more from Steven Gardner, I already knew pretty much what the pro Kerry guy would say before the piece and wasn't far off the mark. Fox is a bunch of morons.

F-ing stuff.

I sadly agree with you. Did anyone else see Hardball tonight, I think Colson comments on the Nixon tapes are very revealing about Kerry. Too bad it was Criss airing them with his spin. They still show how Kerry was mainly interest in his own political ambitions back then.

H&C has been having this problem for the last few days. Some remote guests have been getting the questions on a delay. I could tell Gardner was handling it well, but it did make him look evasive. I thought he did well.

Anything about this?
"...Gardner said yesterday that he wonders whether speaking critically about Kerry led to his losing his job as a home inspection field manager. The Brinkley story said Gardner "claims he works at Millennium Services." Within hours of the publication of the article on Time's website, Gardner said, he was fired from his job as a home inspection field manager."
"Gardner's former boss, Randy Girton, of Millennium Information Services of Illinois, said Gardner's view about Kerry had nothing to do with it, adding that it was a "weird coincidence" that Gardner and some others were let go yesterday. "He was a great employee, but just in this economic situation we didn't have the volume in that territory to warrant a manager in that territory," Girton said. He said Gardner did not accept an offer to work as an independent contractor."

I half expected to hear:
Raymond Shaw er, John Kerry is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being Ive ever met in my life.

I saw Hardball. I loved when Nixon & Co were making fun of Kerry seeming like a man of the people, sleeping outside with veterans, when really he was staying in Post Georgetown. That was the real story to me.

I read an account of this guys specific issues with Kerry, I believe, on this site. Sean did not allow the man to clearly lay out the big issue with Kerry. When the man was wounded, Kerry used that as an excuse to get the hell out of the fire fight even though the crewman told Herr Leutnant Kerry that he could continue to serve his weapon. Sean was already with another point or question and didn't let the man get that point out.

I just fired off an e-mail to Sean. That whole segment wasn't done very well. Sean kept interrupting Gardner... we never got the 'full story' from him. And Wasser got a LOT more air time than Gardner... it was like a free campaign ad for Kerry, IMO!

From another post, interesting! Posted on 03/15/2004 6:16:28 PM PST by jmstein7 Tired of losing? Check in here - The Bag of Dirty Tricks thread.
As weve heard again and again recently, if we are going to beat this bunch of rule breaking GOP misanthropes, were going to have to start fighting as dirty as they do. I started this thread for one reason, to get everyones ideas on a list of things we as Democrats can consider to stop the takeover of this country. This isnt going to be a thread for the squeamish, or for the ideologically pure. Best to steer clear if that describes you. Here are half a dozen ideas to get the ball rolling. 1) Get Republicans fired at your workplace, or fire them yourself if you can In the belief that all activism starts with the grass roots, do us all a favor, and fire your Republican employees this week. There are legitimate reasons to fire virtually any employee, so avail yourself of them. Not only will it quit the gloating youre hearing around the office, itll stop those donation checks they are getting ready to write. Might also teach them a bit of humility regarding the poor and the disadvantaged. They can be the Pioneers of Unemployment Window A 2) Pretend to be a Republican, and then cut down the next Republican that you have a conversation with. - The more public/crowed the place you do this, the better. Use whatever remarks you know are sure to make the intended impression. Youre no better than the liberal scum you claim to hate
get back into the kitchen
Just wait till we win next year and toss peons like you into the field or the workhouse
People in your income bracket dont have the right to be Republican or vote etc. If you need talking points, just observe in a Yahoo political chat room for a few minutes and you have all the right wing bile that you can use and quite possibly all that you can stand. 3) Create, plant and disseminate widely news stories that discredit GOP policies A good way to do this is to print out stories in the visual style of a major newspaper or magazine (dont use the logo or other copywrited material, however) and theme them similarly to the ones that targeted John McCains platform last presidential election. Make sure not to slander individuals directly. Leave stacks of the printouts where people are certain to find them i.e. supermarkets, coffee houses, bars, community centers etc. As in #2 make sure to write these from the right wing perspective, for maximum effect on the target audience. Avoid digital media, as its too easy to fact check, not that most GOP voters care to check these things anyway. 4) Contact the IRS and anonymously tip them off regarding prominent GOP contributors in your area. Lets face it, they are likely tax evaders in any case (thats why they are GOP), so might as well have them go thru an audit and feel a bit of what its like to have a hostile government prying into their affairs. The tax money you shake free will be a little payback to your community for the egregious tax cut they undoubtedly are enjoying. 5) Make sure that youre the only ride on voting day for a group of hard right types who live out of the way, and then dont show up. This works best in low population density areas and poor right wing communities. Cultivate a group of right wing friends and make sure they depend on you for the ride on Election Day. Then dont show up. Every vote they miss is an uncontested vote on the blue side of the aisle. The right needs a taste of Florida 2000. 6) Impersonate Linda Tripp. Whisper into the ear of GOP associates to encourage and get dirty laundry regarding their improprieties, and then make sure that information gets into the wrong hands. Its hard to brag about family values or think about politics when youre in a divorce court. Are you really serious about winning the culture war? Do you mean it when you say its time to fight fire with fire? Then channel that anger and lets hear some ideas. Given the thin skin of most conservative ideologues, it wont take much to have them running far away from such policies and tactics so we can all enjoy proper, principled political discourse in the country again. First, however, they need to be taught that fighting dirty burns them as much as it burns anyone.

Don't worry about who got the most time on FOX, John Kerry will have to defend against these accusations and I seriously doubt he can discredit the testimony of Gardner. At a minimum, John Kerry will have to address these charges. If John Kerry wants to dispel these accusations, he can release all of his Military records, but we all know he won't do that, because John Kerry has much to hide
The fact is..... John Kerry is on the defensive and he will remain on the defensive until election day. The reason for this is because he can not defend the many flip flopping positions he has taken in the name of remaining popular enough for the average Massachusetts voter.

Exactly! Please e-mail Sean and tell him what you posted in #49 (I just e-mailed him with similar comments). Hopefully Sean will invite Gardner back and let him speak (uninterrupted) so we can clearly hear his story!

Sean is not quick on his feet. He wanted to get across the point that Gardner was not a 15 minute of fame guy but he did it at the expense of Gardner telling us why he doesn't trust Kerry's judgment.
Perhaps a stint in the Army or Corps would have taught him to improvise and overcome. But I doubt it. :-}

Well, Gardner may not have been a great speaker, but he had
me mesmerized with the content of what he was saying. . . up until Sean unceremoniously switched subjects.
They shouldn't use this interview to back up their tagline, "fair and balanced".

The comparison with Clinton with good. Considering the Hardball audience maybe it will get some swing voters wondering. I wish someone else would check those tapes.I think Hannity wants to keep a distance from the war record.
