I had the exact same thought last night after reading about the Spanish abdication ("elections"). How many people in Britain, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Japan, Denmark, Bulgaria, etc. are going to die now as a result of these cowardly leftists? Also, is there no sense of vengeance or justice in the Spanish soul anymore?

I suspect the new Spanish prime minister will find a loophole and keep Spanish troops in Iraq

I wish this were true, but ABC radio news reports this morning that he says he will pull all Spainish troops from Iraq.

See? Terrorism works! Now, let's bomb Mecca and Medina and get this show on the road!!!!!

I didn't think there was anything sarcastic about your post! I'm all in favor of holding their precious little "holy sites" hostage with an explicit verbal warning by the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing that they will be destroyed after the next road-side bombing in Iraq, bombing of innocent/defenseless civilians on trains, etc. Ann Coulter's advise right after 9/11 about killing their leaders and converting the rest to Christianity is less absurd than what the Spaniards have done, and would do more to bring peace to the world.

Those pesky facts which the naive Spanish electorate doesn't care to know:
Al-Qaeda was active in Spain BEFORE the Iraq war.
It was active in Spain before the Afghanistan war.
Al-Qaeda was active in Spain before September 11, 2001.
Spain's turning a blind eye to the presence of an Islamic army making operational plans in their territory led to OUR disaster.

A successful attack of this nature is directly proportional to the percentage of Muslims in a Country

It is true that Spain has been teeming with Islamoterrorists for many years, including prior to 9/11/01.

Unfortunately Spain seemed to have a policy of looking the other way while Islamofascists poured into their country. I do not know if Aznar was effective in trying to stem the tide; but I do know the socialists won't be.

Yes, exactly right -- I didn't see your post before posting #26, but we were thinking the same thing.

The Spanish voters are still in shock, denial, and anger, the initial stages of the grieving process, and they might have voted against the wrong party.

When they get over their initial shock of electing a socialist, I certainly hope the Spaniards learn to share - big time.

311 Suspect Linked to 911 Planner
Madrid Suspect Linked to 9/11 Figure

One of the three Moroccans arrested in the Madrid train bombings was a follower of a suspected al-Qaida member jailed in Spain for allegedly helping plan the Sept. 11 attacks in the United States, according to court documents reviewed by The Associated Press. It was the latest suggestion that Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida terrorist group may have been involved in the bombings.

A Sept. 17, 2003 indictment calls Jamal Zougam — arrested in Thursday's attacks — a "follower" of Imad Yarkas, the alleged leader of Spain's al-Qaida cell who was jailed for allegedly helping plan the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington. Yarkas, whose alias is Abu Dahdah, remains in Spanish custody.
[...]

Spain's El Pais newspaper, citing the interior ministry, reported all three Moroccans have links to Yarkas. Authorities in Morocco said they could not comment on the report.

Naw, bad idea.  Say what you want about Arabs, but they do not appear to be the kind of whining helpless cowards that the Spanish are.  I think the best way to handle Arabs is to blow their terrorists away.  Arabs respect those who are willing to take care of themselves.

As a matter of fact, so do I.

I don't like blaming ALL Spaniards and revoking any condolances from their attack. Geez, what if the rest of the world judged us by Hillary Clinton, Barbra Streisand, and John Kerry?

The majority of Spaniards decided to follow the illogical path of blaming their president for the attack in Madrid instead of the people who actually carried out mass murder.

Well the Aznar government blamed the ETA instead of Al Qaeda. I think that was a stupid move.

ABC radio news reports this morning that he says he will pull all Spainish troops from Iraq.

AP

"The Spanish troops which are in Iraq will be returning home," Socialist leader Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero told Cadena Ser radio. He said the troops would be recalled once he puts together a government some time in mid-April and formally takes over as prime minister.

However, a party spokesman explained to The Associated Press that Zapatero sticks by his campaign condition that the 1,300 troops would stay if the United Nations assumed control of the peacekeeping operation in Iraq.

There is room for compromise.

The new Iraqi government will likely get a new UN resolution blessing foreign troops as UN peacekeepers in Iraq.

Diplomats can work out a face-saving arrangement to help the Spain and others.

One thing I find astonishing about the Al-Qaeda tape claiming responsibility for the train bombing:
The speaker identified himself as military spokesman for Al-Qaeda in Europe.
They flaunt the fact that they have an army on Spanish soil.
They do not recognize Spanish sovereignty.
The Spanish response is one of "entrega." Idiomatic translation = We give it up. In plain English, Surrender.

I think France is next up (because of the headscarf ban, and the presence of so many "oppressed" Moose-Limbs in the country). Great Britain's physical separation from the continent, and her excellent police and intelligence services, make her the least likely target for Islamists.

I don't either.

We Americans elected Hitlery's husband twice.

"terrorist group to run amok across (Europe) and elsewhere to 'punish' anyone who dares defy them.... giddy with joy over their success. They have been handed an entire country for a relatively inexpensive attack.... "

I am afraid they will run the same HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL strategy in other pre-election country.... Including the US !!

They wouldn't dare hit their friend France. One of the idiot Spaniards quoted yesterday said something to the effect that Spain was hit because it was an ally of the US. Germany and France are "safe". Big mistake if they hit France.

Poland is showing strength. They will be next.
