Rita Cosby! I heard that entire interview! I was screaming at the TV; when they leave out RELEVANT facts, they leave the stupid people to just assume he COULD be VP, but is just too busy elsewhere to do it!

It's infuriating!

And after reading this article, is there any doubt that the Kerry people "reached out" to the Bush AWOL story people?

Yep and do a little research behind those people .. and I'm sure we'll find all kinds of information

I applaud this. The RNC should have been more ready for this. This is hardball.

I thought so, too, but see someone advised to scroll down toward the end of the column.

Notice how the media was told to jump by the Kerry campaign, and they merely asked "how high?". Though to their credit they eventually brought out families who did not object to the Bush ads. I have a feeling the latter group was starting to make so much noise at this attack on the president the media had no choice but to grant them airtime.

Here's the entire portion addressing the ads:

TENSIONS BETWEEN THE KERRY camp and the DNC were exacerbated on Wednesday and Thursday last week when the DNC was attacking the Bush campaign for including four seconds of scenes from the World Trade Center terrorist attacks in the President's first campaign ads.

"The DNC is yapping about this and the Bush ads are running on every news station and on every nightly newscast around the country for two days straight. The Bush guys basically got full saturation from an ad that perhaps one million people might have seen on one of those cable channels had no attention been given," says a Kerry campaign staffer. "Then they put these spokespeople out there to talk about the ads who were just embarrassingly bad. The party guys did us no good."

It isn't as though the Kerry people weren't looking to attack the ads themselves. Despite denials that the Kerry campaign criticized the Bush ads, the Kerry camp did reach out family members of people killed on 9/11 whom they knew were supporters of Kerry and asked if they'd be willing to denounce the ads publicly. Those people were given the names of assignment editors at cable news channels and network news outlets, as well as talking points for them to use if they were interviewed.

~snip~

The really infuriating part of that interview is that what's her name teaches constitutional law at USC. The spin could not have been more intentional, and Rita Cosby facillitated the leftist lie of omission.

Link is to wrong article.

Scroll down. It's buried near the bottom of the rest of the article, which is about the Hildebeast and Kerry.

It's unfortunate that the Spectator isn't giving this more play.

Cyn, Rush played clips of two of these interviews that had aired on different networks on Friday. It was astonishing. Both 9-11 widows responded with identical phrases like "3000 citizens murdered on his watch" - they were obviously repeating talking points verbatim. To me, Kerry's the one politicizing the attacks on America, certainly not President Bush.

And I interpret the complaining about the DNC, and then the revelation that the Kerry camp was contacting people and asking if they'd be willing to go on the record against the ads and being given talking points, as this strategy has backfired and the Kerry camp knows it.

It's a good thing. (<---a little Martha lingo in honor of her first meeting with her probation officer)

You would think that this kind of story would be right down Fox News' alley. It is a bonafide story of political dirty tricks. Is Fox afraid to tackle it because they are sensitive to being viewed as "Republican-leaning"? Does Fox need one of the DNC outlets such as CNN or the NY Times to hint at a story before they are willing to take off with it?

Susan Estrich; she was Mike Dukakis' campaign manager.

She's a Democrat mouthpiece; her one redeeming value is that she believes the Clintons are sucking the life out of the DNC.

Because like Kerry, Dean, MacAuliffe, Clinton, Edwards, etc, etc, THEY ARE ALL DEMOCRATS! They want the worse possible light put on all things Bush & Republican. Like Clinton, they'll lie in order to see it done.

I would think the Fox news producers could call the "survivor celebs" and ask them to respond to the article. Wouldn't that be sufficient?

Good for Rush. I know some of us were noting the phrases like "on his watch", and "he was reading to children when the planes hit the towers" and such.

And you're right! Just those phrases alone, used to complain about President Bush's use of the little bit of footage in his ads, was a gross political exploitation of 9/11, itself!

Typical dems once again accusing Republicans of doing what they themselves are in fact doing.

Kerry is just disgraceful.
