*bump* Politics is an insider's ball-game. The Democratic Party does similar things.

But using Karl Rove's name and saying that he would be an enemy of the president for life But as the tapes show, that was Murphy's mischaracterization of what was said. Taping phone conversations without consent -- is that legal?
If Murphy was in danger of upsetting people before, well he's just declared war on the White House and the NRCC.

Carl Forti, the NRCC's communication director, denied that the party tried to squash District 4's grassroots challenger with bluster. Forti confirmed that Reynolds and Telford had been in contact with Murphy, but said that Karl Rove's name had not been dropped in either conversation. He also denied that either caller had in any way suggested that running might ruin Murphy's political career and make him an enemy of the White House. Unfortunately for Forti, Murphy owns a tape recorder. He taped his conversations with Telford and Reynolds, and he shared them with the Dallas Observer
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
I hate lying, scheming politicians. Its also another reason not to call myself a Republican.

Oh how Bill Clinton wishes it wasn't.

Then why didn't they contact Mosher? The one who has a major newspaper endorsement and has been running a LOT of radio ads?? Why pick on the also-ran???

Hall is the Dem plant. He was a Dem until January.

It's more protecting a party-switcher. Texas CD4 is a heavily-GOP district. I am not even sure if there is a serious Dem candidate.

That's their story and you're sticking to it, eh?
To: Apu Nahasapeemapetilon
Reynolds promised that, should Murphy put his party first, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay would be made aware and that he "wouldn't forget it."So Murphy tells all these people to get effed and then breaks out a freakin' tape recorder???
There are only two possibilities here:
1. Murphy is a complete fool, or
2. Murphy is a "stealth" Democrat who is trying to cause mischief.
I am leaning toward 2.
To: GeronL
Yeah, you are really contributing to the conservative cause by "not calling yourself a Republican". Murphy should stay in, cost Hall and the NRCC $500K to defend him, and not use that money to help GOP challengers elsewhere. Thats how we defeat liberalism, by being undisciplined. When Lisa Murkowski or Mel Martinez, or Anne Northup come up 2,000 votes short in November, we'll have "principled conservatives" like you to thank for it because that last bit of money wasn't available because it had to spent to fend off this jackass running against Ralph Hall. Because of your principles and not "calling yourself a Republican", some liberal Democrat will be in there either pushing Kerry's leftism or obstructing Bush at every turn.
To: William Creel
Could Murphy be a Dem plant in the primary?Absolutely.
A tape recorder???

what about my question in #8??

Murphy hasn't cost them anything. Mosher is their only serious primary opponent and he hasn't been asked to get out of the race. why?

Its amazing the GOP leadership would waste their time threatening an also-ran while the other primary opponent is running tons of radio ads and getting newspaper endorsements. Makes no sense.
