Right on. The best thing in the world for the Bush Campaign is for the media to have a hissy fit about these ads. They more they whine, the more the ads get viewed the more the people see the media is much ado about nothing. WAKE UP Conservatives! You spend all your time whining about Bush. I am SICK of it. These ads are brilliant. The media is going to spew the DNC line no matter WHAT the Bush Campaign does. These are GREAT ads. Quit worrying about trying to make the media love us. It will NEVER happen.
To: BibChr
Didn't they know what was going to happen? How did they allow themselves to be (as usual) put on the defensive? No matter what President Bush does, the media and Democrats will act in the same manner. Attack Republicans for "insensitivity", "politicizing 9/11", etc. It is something you can take to the bank. Of course the Bush Administration knows how the media will react, which is why the opening ads are so soft and touchy-feely.

The firefighters and police have always been more pro-conservative and Bush, now, he's ranckled their chains. The Firefighters' Union endorsed Kerry a month ago. Yes, most firefighters support Bush, but the pimp union is supporting their union boy. Don't worry about it.
I think the best approach is for Bush to distance himself from Perle and Wolfowitz. the PNAC is getting bad press.
Neo-cons, right? You're off in the kookburger weeds with that stuff.

The White House doesn't seem to be DOING ANYTHING about the prices'92 redux. My most vivid memories of that campaign cycle are seeing all the "Bush doing nothing about economy" headlines.

As I posted on another thread earlier, the topic has been brought to the fore, there have been pro-Bush voices at the ready and the anti's look self-centered and myopic.
So, yes, I do think they anticipated this and I think public opinion is unfolding in Bush's--and more importantly, America's--favor.

My point: again and again, Republican campaigns put out a timid thought or two, are jumped all over, appear totally unprepared and blindsided, and end up either apologizing or looking darned apologeticAnd I have gone the whole day without hearing even a HINT of an apology from the right. What is this complaint based on as regards this ad brouhaha?

I'm in S. FL and they ARE running over and over again. Almost EVERY break during Brit Hume's newscast tonight.

Heck, I'm still waiting for Kerry to apologize for politicking on the graves of VW vets.
To: illiac
The fireman who has been objecting all over tv is none other than a Kerry supporter from way back. The response to the ads was well organised and well rehearsed. The dem/libs had their 'answer' ready well before those ads ever aired.

Hey buddy, relax.
The ads are not for the media. They are not meant to make them happy. They would have complained no matter what Bush did or said.
The ads do the job for who they are supposed to do it for. Undecided voters who need to be reminded just who would protect them, versus who would ask the UN for permission to protect you. The louder the Media yells, the better the ads are.

Presidential candidates cause their own problems when they make promises and take credit for conditions they have no control over. Greenspan has done more to foul up the economy than Bush or Kerry ever could. However they both try to convince the public that their candidacy is necessary to keep a good economy.

If I may, I'd like to make a loose analogy between the furor over Gibson's movie, The Passion of Christ, and the President's new ads.
Reviewer's screamed, panned, pouted, reviled, criticized and bashed Mel Gibson's movie. It is and will be a huge box office success.
So now the media are screaming over Bush's use of the 9/11 picture. IMHO, most Americans will watch the ads and then have the same reaction to the ads as they had to Gibson's movie.
The average guy will ask themselves, "What the heck are they objecting to?"

Here's what the networks didn't say, but most moderates and Republicans know.
"Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of the attacks wasn't available for comment on the Bush 9/11 ads. He's on the run now, hiding in some flea-infested cave soaking in his own stench, and quivering at the sound of approaching footsteps. Mr. bin Laden's spokesman issued a statement saying that he would, however appreciate those conservative police officers and fire fighters voting against Bush."
I'm damn glad the president is politicizing 9/11. Since when did national security escape the realm of politics? This is an election campaign that will determine the course of the war on terrorism. The two holes at Ground Zero should be a reminder to all of us that this sort of attack can happen to any of us, anywhere. George W. Bush isn't trying to exploit the families and victims of this tragedy. He's trying to make sure there won't be more victims in the future.

Sorry to change the subject but I had an idea. The President has the authority to pardon. Since activist judges go out of their way to legislate from the bench what the President should do is pardon everyone ever found guilty of a crime by any judge who does so. If I were president I would have sitting in every one of those judges courtrooms with fill-in-the-blank pardon slips. What do you think? Would it work?

Certainly I agree that the ads are great and should be run. The concern is that the obvious, blatant, coordinated free media campaign that the left has mounted can bury the dollars being spent by our side. These guys are masters of deceit through reach and repetition.
To: Loyal Buckeye
I agree.
Ok so we have a competition here. President Bush's ads and moveon.org ads. Moveon ads offend conservatives. Bush ads offend the socialist rats. Taking tit for tat I give the nod to our President. He is not afraid to remind people of the whole reason he leads the way he does, the reality of life in the 21st century in America.
The rats live in the past, opening up old wounds like racism and VietNam, like hypocracy, gun control, and giving lawyers the key to the store. And the anger of how Bush won the election by 597 votes so he stole it.
Losers can still be winners if they show some class. The DemoRats are losers because they have no class. Their fantasy world of equality for all (while they steal from the kitty) is a failure as demonstrated by the former USSR.
To: Question King
No, the policemen and firefighters are unionists and Kerry supporters.

The firefighters and police have always been more pro-conservative and Bush, now, he's ranckled their chains. You are fairly easily bullcrapped. Heard Mike Moran on with Mark Levin and the only thing that "ranckled" his chains was the stupid criticism of the President's add. How does the code word (neo-consevative ) issue come into this and you ought to know that the term bad press is redundant. Other than that you don't seem to know a whole lot.

Exactly, the more the libs scream about the ads the more interest there is to watch them. If you need an example just look at Mel Gibson's boxoffice reciepts on The Passion of Christ. Liberals are blinded by hatred of the President and have become their own worst enemy.
