It seems incomprehensible that a tomahawk would have state sanction on our coinage in this day and age.

The new nickels - which honor the 1803 Louisiana Purchase on the back

Aren't they a year late?

Some nickels were actually made of silver during WWII because nickel was needed for war production.

Of course that was back before our coinage was completely de-based into the tokens we use now.

This may be the first time a regular US coin has had a black man on it. Of course it's hard to tell which of the figures in the boat is York.

He is the one in the back of the boat, no doubt.

Why does the one on the left remind me of a float in the parade in Animal House?

Aren't they a year late?

1804 was the Lewis & Clark expedition - nobody cared about the French celebration last year.

No, no....it's an appreciation of ethnic culture.

Besides, the slave mansion of the evil white male had to be replaced.

The one on the right commemorates the voyage of the Viking Kitties.

How about the Washington Redskin's logo instead - that would be cool. And why CAN'T teams or corporations sponser U.S. currency? Just another example of the MAN keeping the people down.

Looks like the Federal Government is figuring out what the States figured with their Theme and Vanity License Plates. Follow the money.

BTW, when does the Michigan Quarter come out?
