I figure Chicago Lady got sick of being bashed on the state message board by people who just recently "moved" to Illinois
(A few of which I suspect are Ryan campaign workers)
To: Ford Fairlane
I guess they figure 200,000 will be the most anyone gets in the primary considering the number of candidates Yup. Only about 750,000 typically vote in IL GOP primaries. 200,000 is a huge part of that and probably more than enough in a 7-way race.
Jon Wright is a great guy. I met him and heard him speak on several occasions. He has a very bright future in Illinois politics, but this is not his year.
Yes, he is the only downstate candidate. But he never cornered the downstate endorsements and local organizations which are all dominated by Rauschenberger. (21 of 25 GOP state senators)
Watch for Jon in years to come but give this shot to Rauschy.

(A few of which I suspect are Ryan campaign workers) There are several suspicious newbies over there, and Jack! would be silly not to have staffers/spies on this board as he does on others. Why won't they speak up for him now?
CL's most noticeable adversary over on the locale board, at least from what I saw, is BlackElk. Although he seldom posts, he has been around for a few years. He and I have corresponsded and I respect him, even if not necessarily all his views. I don't think he's a Ryan troll, although surely a supporter.
I'll be so glad when the next two weeks are over.

Anything it takes. I want to like the guy and then he opens his mouth.Your answer lies in your reply. Look at another candidate, someone with experience, a proven record of legislature, a good relationship with others who hold the same values, integrity, good presence, and he's just as nice as Jack!

I don't think anything about it and have no idea what he has been doing. However, I do doubt Ryan expects he can hide for two weeks.

If you are talking about me, you really ought to ping me. I moved to Illinois from Connecticut on March 10, 2000, whether you think so or not. Many people here disagree with Jack Ryan as the best GOP candidate or the most electable one. That's OK. We call it free speech.
I have concentrated fire on Chicago Lady and on no other posters with whom I disagree on this Senate race. I do that because Chicago Lady's posts are an insult to the intelligence of those here. Her posts and my responses are also called freedom of speech subject only to such rules as may be imposed by JimRob whose living room we share.
I am a newbie of sorts in Illinois. I have heard a lot of good stuff about Rauschenberger and might yet even vote for him over Jack to nudge Jack but Jack is going to be nominated and he can finance his own campaign (which I normally regard as a warning sign but Fitzgerald did so and stunned conservatives outside Illinois).
I have posted my reasons for being a conservative, being a Republican, what my priority issues are and why, why I think Jack will best advance them. I am not only NOT part of Jack's campaign. I am not acquainted with anyone who is. In an ideal world, I would certainly vote for Rauschenberger but I am not at all convinced that he has even the potential for raising the necessary money to beat a well-funded Demonrat. Rauschenberger is apparently a somewhat sounder candidate than Jack on issues although Jack is good enough for me.
Oberweis is the one candidate I despise because of his crack two years ago that pro-lifers are the Taliban and I am none too fond of his gross opportunism this year on immigration, either. I won't buy his milk or cream or dairy products, not that it would make a difference.
Anyone familiar with my posts on matters other than Illinois politics is likely to ratify that I am very much my own man and a servant of none. I do serve as an election judge and have since November, 2000.
I also have high regard for Illinois Leader and its opinions count with me and mine.

I wasnt talking about anyone in particular
I have, however noticed that since the primary heated up there has been a lot of personal attacks & bashing on the state message board, and I have not recognized many of the names as being regular posters, in fact I checked some of the profile pages (i dont remember which ones) and several were new to free republic
Probably the same crowd that is doing the same thing on the Illinois Leader's forum

and what's more, it comes with a check!
Is there an Illinois only bang-list ... does SJackson have it? ... would he ping it?

I read somewhere that while Raushenberger has always voted pro 2nd amendment, he said once (fairly recently) that he doesnt see why anyone needs concealed carry (i took it to be a personal opinion, not a political position)
Did you ever hear that?
To: BlackElk
For what it's worth I think your tag line is very funny. Also, my hat is off to you for being an election judge. It's hard to get people to serve as judges but we really need them.

That is good news, it makes me very, very happy. Can't wait till the day comes that we can carry in Illinois. I think SJackson has the bang list for Illinois, but I see you directed the post to him.

He has consistently supported 2nd Amendment issues, including CCW -- as long as there is training required, and I believe, need dmonstrated. It's not as strong in that regard as some people might like, but to my knowledge he's the only one even willing to go that far.
In one interview a reporter set him up on CCW for classroom teachers, which he initially said he'd support, and then backed away. I think maybe he had second thoughts about the Chicago Teachers Union having its own armed militia ;^)

I had email forwarded to me from Rauschy-land saying that your Orland Township Organization has formally endorsed Rauschy! The guy who sent it in was Orlando? Was he at our table? WTG Rollee!!!!!
Did the picture I posted at #22 evoke the spirit of The General or what?

Must have misplaced that brain cell
To: TheRightGuy
That was Steve Orlando, who was campaigning for Rauschy. He wasn't there the other night, but he is a good guy. I'm glad to hear about the formal endorsement. I'm going to an Orland Township Republican Meeting tonight, so that is good news.

Did the picture I posted at #22 evoke the spirit of The General or what?It sure does - in likeness and in spirit! I saw him, btw, in the hall before we left, and thanked him for his service to our country. He said "I hope you're with us on the 16th". I didn't have the heart to say sorry, but no, so I just "good luck" instead.

I saw him, btw, in the hall before we left, and thanked him for his service to our country He was actuaaly much better than I have seen in the past ... not quite so arrogant ... and I passed that on to one of his staffers.
Last time I saw him, he was so dismissive of the others and droned for what seemed like hours on every detail of military and "diplomatic" career. He was so self-absorbed and condescending that he gave me the feeling he might be far too qualified to serve in senate -- I thought perhaps he should run instead for Supreme Allied Commander of the Northswestern Hemisphere and Diplomatic Genius for Life.

Thanks for the ping-I'm glad to see that we're on the IL list.
Sorry to say, but I don't think Jack! is hiding around here. We are so downstate that most IL politicians think we are part of Northern Kentucky.
In fact, I don't think any of Jack!'s campaign staff is hiding around here either - as I do not see any of his campaign signs. I do, however, see a lot of Rauschenberger signs in my little town.
