I'm still not convinced that Bonds ever took steroids...

I mean, so what if he was a 6-1, 185 lb rookie who grew into a 240 lber with a sagittal crest?

Let's see... there's 2 MVPs with freakish bodies who ADMITTED (confessed, owned up, proof positive, said it was so) that they took steroids: Ken Caminiti and Jose Canseco.

And that guy who suddenly and bizarrely hit 50 home runs that year, Brady Anderson; wasn't he known for his freakish body?

And those guys who suddenly destroyed Maris' record (McGwire, Sosa, Bonds)...aren't all three known for their freakish bodies? (And where IS McGwire these days, anyway? I wonder what he looks like...)

And isn't is funny how the formerly freakish Jason Giambi shows up to spring training looking like a scarecrow, now that the heat is on him? Hmmm...

Asterisks for all of them.

It helps your quickness with the bat, a la Sheffield.

I wonder how the Maris family feels now..after being trotted around to celebrate the breaking of Roger's record by men who were chemically enhancing themselves to do so.

Blake Rhodes, the Giants' director of media relations, stuck with Bonds like bees on honey to shield him from any questions. Reporters approached Bonds' locker as he arrived for work, but there would be no interview. Rhodes cut off reporters at the pass when the first question was asked, saying, "Dude, don't even try. I told you earlier: Talk to his lawyer."

Not that Bonds was predisposed to telling his story. During a rare moment when Rhodes was not present, an ESPN reporter went up to Bonds, who responded by shouting, "Blake, they're violating me! I'm being violated! That's harassment!"

Bonds did make a statement of sorts. As he walked toward the showers after Tuesday's workout, past a table at which Willie Mays was sitting, Bonds said presumably about himself, "The most wanted man in America." He then raised his fist, a la Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the 1968 Olympics, and said, "Black power."

And what, pray tell, was Willie Mays' reaction to this big baby's idiocy?

Well, Willie is his godfather and supposed good friend. I do wonder what Willie feels deep down about Bonds using drugs in order to beat his home run record.

They may help, you hit more HR's...but so nothing to help your batting average

If the ball goes over the fielders' heads it is a hit; if it lands in the glove, it is an out. You are out.

Those were my thoughts exactly. The bills have just started to come in. Taking all that HGH will have a price, too.

You just have to look at his skull to see what the HGH is already doing to him--the bloody thing is a different shape than it was years ago.

McGwire didn't take steroids, he too ANDRO, and he was quite open about it. He kept the bottle openly visible in his locker, and he said multiple times in interviews that it was the reason he bulked up so much in his later years.

Andro, was banned by all sports except MLB. McGwire said he started taking it to bulk out to try and prevent the huge spat of injuries that were hampering his career.

Lumping him in with the anabolic and designer steroid losers is a little disengenuois. Camaniti didn;t admit it until he failed a drug test, and Jose admitted it after he retired to hawk his "tell-all" book. Bonds and his homies are all denying it right and left. McGwire never denied he took ANDRO.

Well, if Bonds hits .240 with 19 homers this year, we'll know.

He should keep a hat on that thing. That head looks like something out of a sci fi movie.

Did you hear Bonds' agent (Scott Boras) last week? He said that Bonds is 4 pounds less now than when he first walked into Boras' office in 1996.

Barry Bonds' Hard Work or Steroids - take a look at the two pictures!!

http://www.worldzone.net/sports/baseball/dirtvol2.html

Would you know how to post those pictures here?

They may help, you hit more HR's...but so nothing to help your batting average..Bonds hit .370 and .345 the past 2 years.

Actually, steroids may very well help you with hand-eye coordination, oddly enough. Some steroids, like Winstrol, stimulate the central nervous system, which will enable a player's swing to be better, faster, and will improve placement. All leading to getting the bat on the ball effectively.

Actually, the poor way that pro-hormones (like andro) were made at the time, McGwire is fortunate that it didn't hinder him. At the time, one of andro- side effects was to cause a spike in estrogen, which can really mess up the male body.
