Caught up in the midst of this diplomatic maelstrom was Kofi Annan, the UN secretary-general, who, far from concealing his opinions, had laid down a personal challenge to Washington and London to secure backing for a second resolution when he declared that the legitimacy of military action against Iraq would be "seriously impaired" without a second resolution.

I think "caught in the midst" is misleading. Kofi enriched his bank account from the "oil for food" UN program. He had a huge personal interest in continuing the fleecing of America for Iraqi oil.

Hey gitmo. As you can see I am fairly new here and I was wondering if I could ask a favor. I would like to practice my html skills. Would it be okay if I sent you messages that make no sense at all in an attempt to get some of it down?

PFM,

The proper place to do this is in FR's HTML Sandbox. There is a good tutorial there on HTML, and another tutorial at Webmonkey. I'll be glad to join you in the HTML Sandbox.

Thanks, I am actually there but I did not know that is where to practice too. I am still such a newbie!
