I've also found that a high number of homosexuals were victims of sexual abuse.

If there is a vacine to cure San Francisco, then spray the whole damn bay area.
To: netmilsmom
I thought the same thing, but then the author contradicts himself and says homeschool dads are more involved with their sons.
Go figure.
Maybe John Kerry wrote this.

What is this an Anti-Homeschool article?
No. The article brings up the valid point that children who are home schooled aren't always exposed to other boys or men (the mother often administers the home schooling) which can cause behavior problems. My kids are "home-schoolers."

Oh I see it's the old, "How do they get socialization?" argument. Pitifully, this makes the whole article seem like a vote for socialism to me.
Make sure you send your child to public school so they won't turn out gay they we will screw with their little heads and make gays perfectly acceptable.
Right.

These people have been around for a while. The homosexuals constantly berate them. (born not made etc.)
Preventable homosexuality is a threat to the whole concept of homosexual "civil rights". what if a black man could stop being a black man? What if a white man could be black when applying to college? applying for gov. grants?
This concept needs MORE publicity as we enter this critical mass of homosexuals demanding special rights. choose whatever sex partner you want, just keep it in the "bedroom".

AND in Catholic Schools (where I went) all the teachers were women as well. Out of the 48 kids in my 8th grade class, not a one turned out gay.

I just saw it as saying, let kids play. You can accomplish whatevery you need in that regard with sunday school, or just making sure the kids have others to play with.
Lets face it, if we lock up any child and forbit all human contact, there will be issues. I don't believe any true homeschool parents are doing that.

Identical twin studies.
There have been very few studies on separated identical twins and homosexuality. There have been a few more non-separated identical twins studies on the subject.
If the tendency for homosexual behavior was purely genetic, then, when one twin exhibits the behavior, the other twin should (in most, if not all cases) also exhibit the behavior. Conversely, when one twin exhibits the tendency for heterosexual behavior, the other twin should also do so.
The studies show, however, that when one identical twin is homosexual, the other twin is usually not! In fact, the tendency for homosexuality in twins is about the same as in the general population. The conclusion seems to indicate that this is a case of "nurture, not nature."
Is this a simplistic overview of the data? Yes. But it is hard to explain away the results without resorting to the environment of upbringing and social interactions of the participants.

I tend to agree with netmilsmon. Has there been any studies to say that homeschooled kids are more likely to turn out to be gay? Or is that just a subjective assumption?
I don't want to dismiss his point entirely, but the article seemed to go on at length about homeschooling. I'm no expert, but I've not noticed a connection. Most of the gays, I've known went to public schools. And they are more likely to be taught and exposed to homosexual concepts in public school than in homeschool.
So my gut feel is that the article is bunk.

Not at all. If you read it, you'll see that despite the added concern for a homeschooled child with little peer interaction, the positive parental role models (clearly defined male-female behavior & roles) and greater parental involvement with the children offsets the risk of isolation. So, any homeschooled child that also has good peer contacts is way ahead of the public skooled kid in more ways than one.

And honestly, Dads are much more involved with homeschooled children, in my experience.
Why not get to the real issue slapping society in the face? The drugging and feminization of boys along with the divorce rate or women choosing to raise kids singally, makes for no man in the HOUSE.
The author makes a case for strong male influence from peers but, says that all of it can be overcome by an involved Dad, THEN blames it on homeschooling???? This makes no sense.

I was in a discussion with my very liberal SIL this weekend and could not site a source.

Geez, if I wanted to, my kids could be "Socialized" 7 days a week. I have to assume that because this person calls homeschooling an "unpopular decision" and thinks that homeschooled kids sit around the house and watch tv, he doesn't know many homeschoolers.
Maybe he is dealing with just Catholics. Catholic homeschooling is just begining to take hold since the price of tuition is almost unaffordable for the average family.

Even identical twin can recieve different portions of hormones from their mother in the womb. That might explain it.

All the gay guys I knew growing up had father problems.
It would seem what you have is a combination of factors- poor parental involvement, especially from the father, exacerbated by not nipping certain behaviors in the bud. I'll also think that additional negative reinforcement or influence from the community or others is a factor.
I knew a boy in school, who "couldn't decide" if he was gay. Well unfortunately, being around a bunch of other gays, and with no guidance from family or anyone else, that's the path he chose.
