Guiliani appeals to swing voters MUCH more than Cheney How about GW just courts his base and then maybe the swing won't be so important.

he was of the opinion that Bush would tap Condi Rice to run as his Veep. Condi is more like Colon than she is like GW, so if GW picks Condi it will say a lot about his convictions.

I am not so sure the "successor" thing works anyway. How many times has the VP gone on to become president? How many of those after two term presidents? Does it even matter? Maybe the GOP is better off having an open field, and more to choose from, rather than getting stuck with a presumptive "successor." This isn't a kingdom. We little people DO get to choose. I think folks are interested in Bill Owens, to name one example.

They want ANYONE from the administration gone and have for 2 1/2 years. They tried w/Rumsfeld and failed. They tried w/O'Neill and succeeded. The nip at Colin's heels, but he has too much liberal political capital for them to be serious about it.
IMO, Condi does not want elected office. She is always nervous and brittle when she speaks in public, IMO and she doesn't do that well in interviews, either.
This adminsitration is seasoned and staffed w/impecable adults. I do not want to see one change, although I would be able to take Condi leaving for private life if Wolfowitz got her job.

Maybe it's really Cheney who is in charge! :-)

What lesson would that be? You do realize that sitting vice-presidents have lost 3 out of 4 elections in the past 50 years? Maybe the lesson is that the party should turn to a fresh face, unaffiliated with the current administration. Not only that, but Bush 41 was the first sitting VP to win the presidency since Martin Van Buren, if I remember correctly.

Well, since we keep hearing that Bush was "selected not elected", can he run Bush-Cheney in 04 and Bush-Frist in 08????
