It comes to mind that we need sub-moderators for certain Threads like this one. With the power to keep folks on topic and civil to one another.

I think she was using that as a general term.Regarding my Post 132, where I wrote:
Your bottle of Viagra includes the cost of all failed research, too.
RadioAstronomer is correct, I was using the product Viagra in a general sense, and certainly not directed at you. However, I find your reaction more than amusing.

I'm always tempted to rush to a lady's defense . . . a guy thing, I suppose.
But you seem to be doing quite nicely.
I'll keep my supply of napalm in reserve . . .

Just check some of his previous posts on other threads. He brings little to a discussion except threats, flames and disagreement. He and a few others like him are why FR has lost some very fine posters in recent months.

We even came up with a rather lengthy agreement to stem the flame wars (see PatrickHenry's homepage for the agreement). However, I do not think "from occupied ga" is a signatory. I am, as is RadioAstronomer. The Agreement has had some measured success, but I rarely go to those threads anymore simply because I detest the constant bickering.

"We don't want final answers. Might be decades. We just want to know what they're thinking." Exactly - and well put. Cut out the afraid of being wrong/secrecy BS and discuss the the possibilities of what you're seeing as the results come in. One other thing that ticks a lot of people off (including me) is that NASA presents material as if we're all school children.
I miss the old NASA with adult blow by blow commentary and briefs.
Do they see the same things we see?
Oh yea, and way before we do...
Wonder if NASA/JPL monitors boards such as this to get the benefits of extra eyes and imaginations?
FR is a VERY popular site and you can be assured that some NASA folks visit it regularly. If they put anything out with out first going through NASA's PAO then they're looking at big trouble. Likewise, NASA is probably afraid to put anything out of this magnitude with out first checking up the line as well.

I'm always tempted to rush to a lady's defense . . . a guy thing, I suppose. No need to justify...I'm not that much of a feminist - only as far as equal pay for equal work, credit, opportunity, and so forth. :^)

In NASA's defense, I got to hand it to the Entry, Decent and Landing (EDS?) team and the Asian dude that was the manager. What a terrific job they all did and I felt just like I was right there in the control room with them.
Steve Squires (The Science Team manager from Cornell) could learn from them.

I'm willing to believe the use of "your" reflects the common English practice of using "you" and "your" for the more accurate and much more stilted use of "one" and "one's" for a non-specified third person.
One's response to such a post can be quite telling.
One might think that one hit a nerve.

Peak oil is a new concept, an idea. It seems we are already peaked economically and oil, natural gas, and coal, cheap as they have been, cannot ever be cheap again. We have a limited time to enjoy our robust economy; it will crash and there is nothing we can do to stop the crash. We are over the peak. That's the idea. There will be a lot of discussion of this idea.

Go back to horses and steam cars. The roads will be totally adequate for horses and carts.
