I wouldn't counter freep, it would be counter productive...
Not so, grasshopper. :o)
(Unless you are being counter-counter contrary.)
Look at the extraordinary results that the DC Chapter's counter-FReep got LAST year...

HUGE Press Coverage for FREE REPUBLIC and DC Chapter
(Patriots Rally III counterprotest)

many many many! - refer to article | Jeff B.

Thanks to the hard work and perseverance of kristinn and other DC Chapter FReepers, Free Republic got a lot of PUBLICITY all over the nation this weekend. This was due to press releases, faxes and phone calls informing the media of our counterprotests of the bussed-in anti-american leftist scum which polluted the nations capital yesterday and today.

Below is a listing so far of where FreeRepublic was IN THE NEWS:

Thanks, tgslTakoma!
It would be nice also to get in some kind of a "John Kerry/Jane Fonda" connection, too...

Ya know when they show up with almost a million people and we gather a few thousand it will look bad and it will look like Bush has little if any support. If no Freepers show up then people can allude that Republicans are either busy or that this march wasn't worth their time. It will be counterproductive because alot of people like me have other things to do.

Yeah, the sponsorship credit needs updating. Maybe "This rally paid for by AlQaeda Democrats" or similar. Kristinn had an idea, but I am suffering right now from CRS.

Kristinn?

Well, by all means, do what you have to do.

We hounded them mercilessly in DC, every time they came to town - all hundred-or-so of us, for over two years. And guess where they AREN'T MARCHING this time?

A handful of regular folk - carrying flags and signs with very pointed messages - yelling our lungs out at them; and we managed to rain on their parade and broke their spirit and their will to march again in DC.

We won. But we wouldn't have had that satisfaction if we "had other things to do".

Your choice.

BTW, I'm sure our men and women in uniform have "other things" they could be doing, too. But instead, they are doing what needs to be done. This is THE LEAST THAT I CAN DO, on their behalf.

Everyone, please click on the Los Angeles poster link, or any of the cities. It says "PALESTINE" and has Muslims protesting on it. And the protest just happens to be on Saturday, when no observant Jews can or will attend. How convenient. It will be as if no Jews care what these LIARS are saying.

As far as your last sentence, guilt doesn't work for me, they signed up and they are doing the job they are suppose to do as I do mine.

Second like you said a few hundred vs. hundreds of thousands. I saw it on TV and this is what the purpose of protesting is, to get on TV and make it look like a huge uprising. We will not have anything significant to counter them because the majority of us are older, smarter, and probably working.

Third the reason they aren't in DC is because we are coming to NY for our convention, don't think we made them leave. I remember looking on C-Span and I was thankful that Freepers where there, but sometimes when we have so little people against a huge group, we look weak and look like we have no support. Remember peer pressure, group coercion, group think, and what the media shows has a huge effect on the common citizen.

How am I wrong, it doesn't matter if it is a few hundred thousand off, the cameras will make it look like a million, think!!!

I know alot of you guys here are really anxious to start campaigning and to do other stuff, but I give credit to the Commies at ANSWER, they know how to get alot of losers together who have no jobs and pay no taxes to march. We have stuff to do, families to feed and take care of, they have abortions to do, people to rob(tax wise) and misinformation to spread, they have more hate time we have family and real needs to take care of. Let them look like the retards that they are.

I don't know maybe I am trying to take the high road, but I think we out class them and yelling and fighting like commies at a free lunch makes us look less than what we are. What was that line that is said "never argue with a fool because from a far people can't tell who is who." Let those fools look dumb, I would rather be watching the Passion.

You have no idea as to what the phrase Get Out of Cheney's House means to this forum and it's overwhelming influence in 2000, do you?

The yelling at Gore's house, yeah I know what it means, I also know alot of Evangelicals sat out in 2000, how about you go see the Passion like I will and pray instead of shouting like monkeys at a zoo. Don't argue with these fools it is pointless.

Why are you wasting your time on FR instead of doing the "stuff you have to do" like feeding your family, watching the Passion, and praying?

I pray when I wake up and when I go to bed and when I choose during the day. My family consists of me, as everyone else is of able age. The Passion isn't out near me so I can't see it. Next question please or are you gonna answer what I put forth.

These radical extremists are John Kerry's constituents and this will just give Republicans the opportunity to remind Americans about Kerry's anti-war protests in the '70's. I know I saw a poll about the war protests before the Iraq war and about 65% of the people did not like it.

You know what people who want to protest this weekend should do, help out Nader. Get Nader off the ground and get him in a position to hurt the Dems.

What I said has nothing to do with playing on your (or anyone's) guilt. It's why I did, and will continue to do, what I have been doing. You do what you want to do, and see things how you want to see them. I think you're wrong, that's all.

Second like you said a few hundred vs. hundreds of thousands. I saw it on TV and this is what the purpose of protesting is, to get on TV and make it look like a huge uprising. We will not have anything significant to counter them because the majority of us are older, smarter, and probably working.

They thought they would have the streets, and the media, all to themselves. And they thought that nobody would question and condemn their communist and terrorist allegiances. That they had to contend with us each time they came to town, and that more and more media were becoming aware of their ties, and their violent nature, made them decide to pull out of DC. And the last time they were here, they also had the upstart Protest Warriors who actually went into the now puny ANSWER rally carrying their own signs and video cameras. When ANSWER had the monopoly on the media, they could spin things their way. But when the other side is there with cameras of their own, the lie is impossible to uphold.

Sure, they could have marched past the sorry lot of us again in March, but they knew we would be there. And they know that New York is friendlier territory in more ways than one. NY will likely keep the two sides separated - allowing the commies in ANSWER to get the glowing press reports. And the city is much bigger, so they can count on more idiot supporters there. I do hope the NY FReepers don't follow your advice and stay home, and I hope they can find a good location from which to taunt the marchers.

Remember peer pressure, group coercion, group think, and what the media shows has a huge effect on the common citizen.

Exactly! And if the media shows these yahoos carrying signs that say "F*** Bush!" and "Bomb Texas" and "Free the Cuban Five" contrasting with us holding signs that say "God Bless our troops" and "ANSWER Supports Terrorists" they're going to stop and think (at least I hope they do) before they say, "Ya know, Marge... these peace foks are right. We better vote for Dean/Kerry/Nader..." And we'll have another Vietnam.

I grew up in the shadow of DC during the Vietnam War, and I remember watching the news and reading the Evening Star every day. I remember the "May Day" protests, and the protests on college campuses, and I don't want to see that happen again. Our parents went to work every day back then. They had other things to do back then. I'm sure they were pissed about what was happening, but they didn't know how to fight back against the tactics of the left. We grew up in the midst of it, we learned how they "play." And now we need to beat them at their own game.

But that's just my opinion. I've stood out there with just a few people before, and I'm bound to do it again. I'd be much happier if there were more who would stand with us. But if they won't? I have a picture of Chesty Puller on my wall - the caption is, "We're surrounded... that simplifies our problem." I'm a hard-headed Irish daughter of a Marine. Translation: I'm not a quitter.

Take a closer look at their flyer...

At the bottom, in a defeated and submissive posture are two US soldiers. Above them at the top of the page, standing triumphant and agressively raised-fisted, are three radicals - looking much like those in the Middle East who celebrated the deaths of three thousand of our friends, family and coworkers on September 11th, 2001.

These people do not want peace. They do not simply want our troops to leave Iraq. They want our destruction.

That is an excellent point. Don't worry, us Catholics can fill the gap! Have any Jewish groups gotten together to counter protest any of these commies?
