Codrea rhetorically (and humorously, might I add) asked what would happen if he chose to violate a different law -- the ban on carrying a firearm for self-defense The state doesn't like being the butt of jokes, and will react predictably when they are -- like an angry child.

Those in Kali with substantial assets/wealth/income who wish to "tweak" and agitate the state pols, may want to consider investing in U.S. Treasury Notes and Bonds. The State can't tax the interest income. Or does Kali make it's own "law" on this matter?

They used to Tax the retirement income of people who had LEFT the state!
They called it a "source tax".
An ultimate form of "taxation without representation".
It took an act of the U.S. Congress to put a stop to it.

Just another item proving that "the authorities" are now so comfortable with trashing the second amendment that they have no problem attempting to intimidate writers exercising their first amendment rights.
This is getting to be too common.
Does this make everyone who post here feel safer?

From the letter in question:
"So I was thinking of coming up to San Francisco and exercising my right to keep and bear arms, maybe showing up at City Hall with a state-banned AR-15 and a couple 30-round magazines, and also carrying several pistols concealed without a permit."
This is probably not the most brilliant thing Mr. Codrea has written.

Hey, you have to stir the pot every so often, just to let the 'officials' know you are still a part of their community.

I bet this is why Govenor Schwartzenegger came out over the weekend opposing what the mayor of San Francisco was doing -- Arnold said that "if the mayor of San Francisco could do that, what would stop another mayor from issuing, say, permits to own Assault Weapons, for example."

Put this in a slightly different context:
What if David "Einstein" Codrea had written a letter suggesting he might show up in front of the White House carrying an (quoting from his letter now) "AR-15 and a couple 30-round magazines, and also carrying several pistols concealed without a permit."
Do you suppose the Feebs or the SS (Secret Service) might pay him a visit within oh, say, an hour and half?
And if Codrea were a wild-eyed DU member, would ANYone on this website be defending him?
Come on now: what he wrote was just plain idiotic. People actually HAVE gone down to city hall in San Francisco and shot the place up; those people there are probably a little sensitive to "jokes" like his.

"Hey, you have to stir the pot every so often, just to let the 'officials' know you are still a part of their community." True enough, but writing what can reasonably be construed as a threat to city officials is probably not the best way to go about it.
