Interestingly, most folks think penguins are only an arctic bird. There are 4 tropical species. What you saw was likely the Humboldt, or Peruvian Penguin.

Why can't spy photos be this clear?

Which photos are you referring to?

Some of the photos in this thread are wide-area shots, and others are aircraft photos taken from low altitude.

"Which photos are you referring to?"
LOL

My comment was to post #7, which shows a photo that is identified in the article as being "acquired by the Compact High Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (CHRIS) instrument aboard ESA's Proba spacecraft on 26 September 2003."

We saw penguins and flamingos in the same bay.

Do we have any pictures to share? They're natural enemies, you know.

Why can't spy photos be this clear? As intriquing as the Mars mission is, I can't help but think our money would be better spent improving our spy satellites

Our spy satellites are just fine. We need better spies -- guys who have the gonads to work on the ground and rub elbows with those lethal snakes,

I don't think post #7 is a sattelite photo. The angle to the ground is too great. The shot would have to penetrate way too much atmosphere to have a usable photo.

Did a vehicle
Come from somewhere out there
Just to land in the Andes?
Was it round
And did it have
A motor
Or was it
Something
Different

Did a vehicle
Did a vehicle
Did a vehicle
Fly along the mountains
And find a place to park itself

Or did someone
Build a place
To leave a space
For such a vehicle to land

Did a vehicle
Come from somewhere out there
Did a vehicle
Come from somewhere out there
Did the indians, first on the bill
Carve up the hill

Did a booger-bear
Come from somewhere out there
Just to land in the Andes?
Was she round
And did she have a motor
Or was she something different

Guacamole queen
Guacamole queen
Guacamole queen
Guacamole queen
At the armadillo in Austin Texas, her aura,
Or did someone build a place
Or leave a space for chester’s thing to land
(chester’s thing... on Ruth)
Did a booger-beer
Come from somewhere out there
Did a booger-bear
Come from somewhere out there
Did the indians, first on the bill
Carve up her hill
On Ruth
On Ruth
That’s Ruth

Do you think the article told the truth about any of the other photos? Or this whole thing just a hoax?
