Steven Wayne Smith is the most solid conservative Republican vote on the Texas Supreme Court. Rick "Hate Crimes Law" Perry's RINO colors are starting to show through again.

Texas Ping!
Freepers really need to rally behind Justice Smith. Perry has a personal vendetta against him for defeating his hand picked RINO candidate in the last primary - a candidate who publicly said he would be like DAVID SOUTER on the supreme court.
Smith is the most solid and independent Republican vote we've got on that court, so we can't afford to lose him to the Tom Phillips and Rick Perry crowd.

F Perry.
Cross your fingers that after finishing his 2nd term, Bush runs for the Governorship of Texas again!

I'm glad the well- informed cancelled out my primary vote in 2002. I was wrong about Rodriguez, and I probably shouldn't have voted in the Supreme Court primary, given that I'd never heard of any of them.

I'm constantly amazed and amused at my uninformed friends who proclaim support for Perry and his "conservative stance" on issues. I dare them to name one, and the spluttering starts.

I'm with you GOP and adding
"VOTE for STEVEN WAYNE SMITH
on my e-mails. I helped put his yard signs together recently at a pizza party.
So who's your choice between Streusand and McCaul? Seems they're the two front runners in Dist 10. What you think GOP?

Just a moment of clarity here, but aren't these guys supposed to check their political ideology at the door when they get on the bench?
To: adam_az
I think we may have a Governor Hutchison by then.

Cross your fingers that after finishing his 2nd term, Bush runs for the Governorship of Texas again! There are actually several rumors about either Senator Hutchison or Comptroller Strayhorn challenging him in the Republican Primary next time. Though each has her flaw, either would get my vote before Governor "Hate Crimes."
To: Gracey
I'm in District 2 so my attention has been there (i'm backing Poe) but in 10 I give McCaul a slight edge simply because he seems better versed on the conservative side of the issues. Struesand also has a history of backing both sides of the aisle.
Personally, I don't consider either of them to be ideal or inspiring candidates for Congress - even with McCaul's work in government before now. So while I lean McCaul, I'm not planning to do anything more on his behalf than simply state that fact. That entire field also seems more like a bunch of rich guys trying to buy a seat than anything else.

There are actually several rumors about either Senator Hutchison or Comptroller Strayhorn HA! Talk about RINOs!!!
You've gotta be kidding me. I can't believe you would considering voting for that kind of crap.

By saying that Smith is a reliable conservative I mean conservative in the sense of stating that Clarence Thomas is a reliable conservative.

Rick "Hate Crimes Law" Perry's RINO colors are starting to show through again. The operative words here are RINO and again! I too am sick of hearing how conservative the guy is.

Didn't he sign the parental consent bill? I believe the first one was under Bush in 1999, though Perry seems to have signed an extension or something. He also signed the redistricting bill. Those are the only two things I can think of that he's ever done as a conservative.
Contrast that with hate crimes, affirmative action, appointing David Souter wannabes to the courts, and a whole slew of other things and its pretty clear he is no conservative.

You've gotta be kidding me. I can't believe you would considering voting for that kind of crap. Between either of them and Perry, absolutely. As I stated, both Strayhorn and Hutchison have many faults. But they are both better than Perry.
