You are aware, aren't you, that there are plenty of communists in this country and all over the world. Instead of staying in Russia, they have participated in a diaspora of unprecendented size.
They are bringing communism to America in the form of 'sustainable development' and 'smart growth'.
Charlotte Iserbyte has extensively documented the Soviet influence on our school system in her book 'None dare call it education'. The Maple River coalition also documents the Soviet influence on the education system with their website
"Among the elementary measures the American Soviet government will adopt to further the cultural revolution are...[a] National Department of Education...the studies will be revolutionized, being cleansed of religious, patriotic, and other features of the bourgeois ideology. The students will be taught the basis of Marxian dialectical materialism, internationalism and the general ethics of the new Socialist society."
--William Z. Foster, Toward Soviet America, 1932 National Chairman of the American Communist Party (1933-44, 1945-57)

OK, what am I missing? This is 1960 and Cuba looks the same as the U.S.

Perhaps because Castro only claimed Cuba was "socialist" on April 16, 1961 and finally admitted to being a Marxist-Leninist on December 1, 1961. In 1960 no one was sure if he was a Communist or not?

Nice post, thanks. Probably the best use of an animated gif I have ever seen.

Now it makes sense! On my home computer, the animation doesn't work with this for some reason so I couldn't see what you were talking about.
