Meanwhile, the president continues to be underestimated by the chattering classes, and Republicans are glad of this

I know/(think really) she has been at the FR reading our astute political analysis.... you can't get that in D.C.

Meanwhile, the president continues to be underestimated by the chattering classes, and Republicans are glad of this. It's a good thing when the enemy underestimates you. Republicans believe the president connects with the public in a way that cannot be quantified and that the Eastern Establishment (my strategist used that term -- I hadn't heard it for years, and it's due for a comeback) does not fully understand, or admire

Woohoo. Let's Get Ready to Rumble!

They don't know Kerry. It's the difference between neighborhood gossip about the man next door whom you know and respect, and gossip about the guy who just moved in down the block.

Noonan kicks some asses.

"Astute political analysis?" This woman has dedicated most of her life to getting Republicans elected and cheering conservatives and she writes one piece that actually told the TRUTH about Bush's ABYSMAL performance with Russert and she was assaulted by sickening zeolots on this site who have no idea what they are talking about or about what it means to be conservative.

"He has a long and manifestly liberal message;"

No matter how hard Kerry tries, assuming he does try, he cannot escape the "L" word. The proverbial cement shoes.

Yeah, you keep counting on getting accurate information from D.C. meanwhile we will get to the TRUTH in the matter right here at the local FR; based, by the way, in the Tri County Center of the universe... the Fresno-Tulare-Kern's trifecta...

The interview wasn't particularly rousing. And I agree, there is no excuse to attack Noonan for speaking the truth. She IS a true conservative, and God bless her!

Yeah, that was a hoot.

Peggy was outside the box, so they threw rocks.

"Accurate info from DC"? What most of you have swallowed for months about Iraq and the reasons for it! What info from DC do you trust now? Noonan is a "sellout" for saying Bush was disaterous in his interview with Russert? George will? Is he a "sellout" too? How about Derbyshire of National Review- is he a sellout when he said the President's interview was weak?

But in all fairness, there must be some statute of limitations on youthful political idiocy. The question is whether past statements reflect old thoughts or current views.

And the beauty is that this is readily answered in Kerry statements: he would annex the US to the UN lock, stock and barrel.

I think this piece is such a contrast to the Russell analysis, because Peggy (I hope that I am not being to forward, Ms. Noonan) was looking from the Washington insider lens before. This piece is looking at it from the everyday Republican's point of view.

When she asked for a paragraph to distill the message, I just had snatches of quotes and images of pictures of President Bush flash through my mind. Every one is a touchstone of integrity, courage and conviction. When he speaks of the schism between good and evil, it resonates throughout my body. When he speaks of spreading freedom and democracy, I want to stand up and cheer. When he says that we will stand alone if necessary, then I think, That's fine--I'm right with you. That goes for the election, too.

Come on Sink! Noonan was just trying to help and you know it! That she was attacked so bad is weak! Honest Criticism is not bad.
