Does anyone know if there is a protocol that veterans adhere to when wearing the uniform in public..Travis, do you know?

That bumper sticker may be a little subtle for a lot of folks. You may actually be advertising support for Kerry instead of making a clever, sarcastic attack on him. Most people on the road won't recognize the North Vietnamese flag; most will assume that you are encouraging support for a Kerry/Fonda ticket.

I don't know of any "official" protocols for after active duty.

I am checking with CafePress to see if they are marketing the bumper sticker. As usual, it looks as if i am a day late and a dollar short. *VBG*

But I do think that you are required to wear the uniform with dignity and respect, and I believe that would preclude ANY political activity.
Of course, you can pick up a set of utilities, or a BDU at any Army/Navy store, but wearing it at a political function connotes a certain endorsement or sanctioning of the event by the military. An ethical person would think twice about it.......ok, never mind.

I might not be able to sell it, Cafepress may have beaten me to the punch. I will check with them when they open up Western Time Zone.

True. It's a shame that some people are so clueless as to what's going on around them that they would get the wrong idea. There's an old saying... "Stupid people shouldn't breed"

This whole "Kerry!
Kerry! Kerry!!" campaign scenario strikes me as a bit surreal...and who
were those older people wearing plain fatigues at the mall?!!
Love the bumper sticker, but I also think the "average person behind you in traffic" wouldn't read beyond the "Kerry" word, and would just think the flag portrayed was some kind of fancy new red and blue-stripe "logo"...< sigh >...
Main point: IMHO, "lying (reasonably) low" for the moment is good, aside from plain old refuting of lies at the "grass roots" level..."Mad" Howie didn't need much help from the "VRWC" to self-destruct, and I'd rather see Kerry take the nomination first (at which point, all hell will break loose around here) than see Edwards (about whom a long-time crony said "you never see him coming until it's too late") step up at the last minute...
I can't imagine what real appeal Kerry has to anyone, but I'd much prefer he be considered "most able to beat Bush" than give Edwards the chance to try...somehow Edwards managed to become a billionaire trial lawyer, get elected to the U.S. Senate as his first elective office, and less than four years into his first term become a viable presidential candidate (in theory)...Edwards still has enough "background" as a lawyer that would be "unhelpful" to his quest for the Presidency, but he's a heck of a lot more charismatic than Kerry, and we all know how that goes, after eight years of "the man from Hope"...
