Don't leave out Terry Moran. He was right up there with those other two.
Nora says these records "do leave open some questions" of what he was doing.
They are now focusing on May to November, a 7 month period.
April to October '72 there is a gap, too.
She does report that the WH says this insinuations being made are shameful and that the president did serve and served honorably.

MSNBC has these embedded reporters with the candidates and Becky Diamond is the Kerry reporter.
She just said Kerry has not directly commented on the president's service.
I think he did on Sunday after watching MTP. I will look it up and would not be surprised to see this reporterette be wrong.

Thank you for helping! If every freeper would contact their reps, they would get an awful lot of phone calls!

Bump for later.... I did not see the conference. BUT .... the media is defintely set against the President.
David Gregory - aack!!!

There is absolutely no way this side of hell that an officer in the US military would get an honorable discharge with 5-7 months of AWOL in his files.
There is also no way that the obscure rules of the NG of that time about days you could take off, a multitude of ways you could make them up, the imprecision of that era's handwritten records, and the multitude of other era specific military issues will be brought up by the media.
The Bush campaign is going to have to do this homework and force it down their enemies' throats.

Those reporters/Democrats shouting about this is a slap in the face to every person who ever served in the National Guard and/or Reserves. My father served in the Air National Guard for 30 years (active duty). He served in Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War. He is now retired. It ticks me off that they are implying a person who served in the Guard or Reserves aren't really serving their country. I hope the veterans are paying attention to this one.

Cyn, Kerry spoke to reporters after watching the interview with Virginia Governor Warner. And he definitely mentioned the National Guard. I saw a clip on MSNBC early yesterday.

You asked:"Have you read "The Art of Political War"by David Horowitz."
No, haven't read it, but I like Horowitz. No question, the Republicans need to become more adept "warriors."

Embedded reporterette Becky Diamond for MSNBC with the Kerry campaign just claimed "The Senator" has been careful not to criticize President Bush's service.
Some of us can understand English, Ms. Diamond, and your deceitful reporting is not appreciated.
Kerry Attacks Bush Over Guard Service
RICHMOND, Va. John Kerry, a decorated Vietnam veteran and Democratic presidential front-runner, questioned Sunday whether President Bush had fulfilled his Vietnam-era commitment to the National Guard.
"Just because you get an honorable discharge does not in fact answer that question," the Massachusetts senator said.
Kerry insisted he was not making a political issue of Bush's Vietnam-era service, saying he had no trouble with the "many people" like Bush who served in the Guard to reduce the odds of seeing combat in Vietnam.
~snip~
In Richmond, he fielded questions about Bush's obligations to the Texas Air National Guard and to an Alabama unit that took him in temporarily while he worked on a political campaign.
"I have always honored and I will always honor anybody who serves anywhere," Kerry said. "I've said since the day I came back from Vietnam that it was not an issue to me if somebody chose to go to Canada or to go to jail or to be a conscientious objector or to serve in the National Guard or elsewhere."
"I honor that service, but that's not the issue here," he said.
~end excerpts~
Cute lumping together of going to Canada with serving in the National Guard, being careful to add he honors that service.

Terry Moran is a total slimeball. He has been nasty since GWB took office. Norah O'Donnell cried on national television the night Gore finally gave his concession speech - along with Chris Matthews. I am really seeing red right now! Fair questions are fine. An all out attack is not.

One other thing:
On an efficiency report/fitrep, the wording "not observed" means "not evaluated."
If he had been awol, they sure as heck would have written about that at length. They wouldn't have meekly said, "Not observed" if they meant "Awol."
They would have nailed any AWOL officer to the wall with their words. Probably something like, "This officer failed to report for duty during this period we supervised him and was AWOL. We recommend the immediate termination of this dirtbag with a less than honorable discharge!"
They don't pussyfoot around with awol officers.

Thanks...that's what I remembered and I just posted excerpts.
MSNBC is about to get emailed a copy of that report, and I will be directly informing them I don't appreciate the pro-Kerry propaganda disguised as reporting from this ditzy Diamond dame. (I'll refrain from using those words in my missive)
To: xzins
Have you emailed that info to FOX? They need to use facts to fight this spin.

The press has already decided that President Bush was AWOL. The facts and evidence mean nothing. They have their story and they're sticking to it. I say we do everything we can to squash them. Are we actually going to sit here and allow them to do this to the President that has pulled us up by our bootstraps since 9-11? Does he deserve that from us - to just take this crap? I don't think so!
To: redlipstick
No. But I just did.

I did hear that Bush had read the book , or atleast had it with him once and it was reported.
Sure doesn't seem like they have read it?
To: mhking
I can't believe the Press Corps is wasting their/our time on this drek! On the contrary, they are working 24/7 to undermine GW. It's more like a well-coordinated campaign by the media and the Rats to defeat GW in the next election.
