A POLL BY MELANIE MORGAN...
Who do you support to defeat Senator Barbara Boxer?
Bill Jones, former Secretary of State 22%
Howard Kaloogian, Chairman Recall Gray Davis Committee 66%
Rosario Marin, former U.S. Treasurer 8%
Toni Casey, former Los Altos Hills Mayor 3%
To: Impeach98
Howard Kaloogian is the only candidate willing to stand up for conservative ideas and values.
When will all the country club Republicans recognize that there is no incentive for anyone to vote for a Democrat in Republican clothing -- or as often is the case, a Republican with no clothing at all!
Kaloogian is exciting Republicans like no other candidate. Speaking out clearly and forcefully will not only bring Republicans out to vote, but it will encourage common sense thinking independents and Democrats.
Kaloogian is the only candidate that can beat Boxer, despite the whining by the liberal media that another liberal is the best Republican candidate.

You're preaching to the choir, I agree!!

Jesus Christ wasn't married at 33. What of it? Are you insinuating that Christ was homosexual too? BTW, you need to remove the phrase "we won the war" from your sight. Makes you look more foolish than you already appear since "we" did not win the war in Viet Nam. Those are communist flags flying over Viet Nam.

If it's a lost cause then Marin should be nominated....Now there's a load of positive attitude and a brilliant suggestion....if you're a member of the PRI Party.
To: kellynla
You used the word "homosexual". Not me.
Though since you mention it, from the Jewish POV, I think it's odd too, that Jesus wasn't married.
Having been back to Vietnam, I think we did indeed win that war...particularly in the south. There's more entrepreneurial freedom there now, than there ever was before, or during the war. Whether however, that mommentum holds through Doi Moi, and translates to what has been evolving political freedom throughout Vietnam, is as much a function of whether we win the current war, too.

Y'all are nuts.
Barbara cannot chew up Howard, and Rosario God Bless Her, is terrified of her own shadow.
Gee whiz...

You have odd "factors" My husband was single until he was 47.
He wasn't gay, just picky!

I never called anybody "gay" or "homosexual". I merely wondered why Kaloogian is not married. Seems like there's some such baggage other than just mine out there.
I'm glad for you and your husband that he was "picky" enough so that you both could get married. I hope you're both very happy, and that it lasts forever, as it should.

What, you don't like PAN likes Marin, too? ;)
To: TatooChick
And Rosario would be a disaster for those of us who care about immigration, securing our borders and national security.
To: calcowgirl
Yeah, I got the Marin email urging people to vote.
I also just spoke to KSFO's folks. Here are the numeric results of the poll so far:
HOWARD KALOOGIAN - 1,411 votes - 62%
BILL JONES - 469 votes - 21%
ROSARIO MARIN - 313 votes - 14%
TONI CASEY - 64 votes - 3%
...
That's a total of 2,257 votes cast thus far.

"There's more entrepreneurial freedom there now, than there ever was before" Your ignorance of the subject doesn't warrant a response. If there is so much "entrepreneurial freedom" as you put it why aren't the Vietnamese going back? Duhhhhhhh... Bottom line, "we" did not win the war and that is why Viet Nam remains a communist country. I know that the Vietnamese realize that "we" didn't win the war because they are not free! I think you have been reading and believing too much communist propaganda. As far as Kaloogian is concerned; why should you be so interested why he is single? Weren't you ever taught good manners? People choose to be single for many reasons; all of which are personal and none of your business. If you have an issue with people being single then that is your problem. Some of the finest people to ever walk this earth were single, thank you. And they didn't have to explain their reasons to the likes of people like you.

Actually, quite a few Vietnamese have gone back, particularly to the south - as I mentioned - which has always been, and is still very much different from the north.
One of the most notable to have revisited lately, and who is contemplating returning to live is Nguyen Cao Ky, the last RVN Prime Minister.
My trip back in 2000 gave me a lot of hope for Vietnam. There are Christian churches up and down the old Redball, and people I spoke to there gave no hints of persecutuion...at least from Saigon to Hue. Not to contend that things are perfect. But I do believe they are improving all the time, a lot of which is due directly to strengthened ties to the US. (and that Vietnam is scarred to death of being islamized.)
Frankly, I'm quite optimistic to think that all we gave there was not in vain, as I think that 70% of Vietnam's population is under 30 (think also, Iran), and that they are excited too for their future prospects to compete in the world economy. I believe that if we stay the course in the current war, it will bode well for the latest generation in Vietnam as well, and all our sacrifice - those you knew - will have have that "greater share of honor", when we then, if you will, will have won the Vietnam War.
As for running for office, were I to do it, I'd expect my life to be an open book.
I'll likley vote for Kaloogian, so I think I'd like to know this about him. He made himself the candidate. If he - or you - can't take it, then that's his - or your - problem.
Semper Fi.

Having been home from work, and had dinner, I didn't mean to seem quite so blunt at the end there.
But I think of a conservative I really like in Rick Santorum.
I know he's a family man because he puts it out there.
Religious. He lives it, and that's very much a part of what I like about him.By Santorum's political and other social skills, he leads by example...which is sure what I rallied to best in Vietnam my first time around there.
I'm a little wary of the, might we say, "cloistered" life as a path to family values, which I believe are essential to Western civilization, especially when our enemies would now have us return to the Dark Ages.
I'm an advocate of marriage. I would like to think, or certainly hope that people are generally happier for it. Which is a good thing, for I believe with Dennis Prager that, "Happy people do more good in the world."
And I certainly hope for happiness for Kaloogian, you, me.... Everyone.
Oh, boy, I'm getting sappy.
Thanks for your service. Always.

Ask Howard at the Republican convention in Burlingame or on the stump or write him a letter.
To: Impeach98
Or better an email.
You're right. Thank you.
(Though I'd still let people know about myself were I running for office.)

Next time I see Howard I'll tell him we need to add a section to the website dedicated just to OneDoug of Free Republic:
Why I am a Homosexual Leper Who Is Still Single at 44
Or ya know, we could just do a "Win a Date With Howard Kaloogian" take off of the Dennis Kucinich stunt/Tad Hamilton movie?
