I spelled out clearly what I was saying and that it came from someone that I know's personal experience.
I spelled it out pretty Kerrying clearly IIRC.

"I mean, there is not even a "county education bureacracy" in my part of the country." Maybe not in Bucks County. In Baltimore county there sure as heck is.

My dear, there IS a difference beween no concern, not interested and not honed in on! Certainly. My opinion was that if you plan to be alive in 2008, you should be "honed in on". I have no doubt that you are interested and concerned.
But interest and concern without application are useless states of mind, and under those conditions lack of application could be interpreted as neglect.

I think the use of the derogatory 'unappeasable' slur needs at least a time out around here.
My opinion.
In a sentence, as a descriptor of one individual's actions, the word itself certainly has usefulness.
But as it, and certain other words and phrases, such as 'principled conservatives' have come to be used by some here, it is despicable and lying propaganda...a broadbrush condemnation, a net cast wide catching all conservatives, the lowest form of innuendo and insult.
It's offensive.
To: EternalVigilance
Are we to become more like the liberals we say we oppose and have our own speech code? I hope not.
This should suffice, if rigorously enforced: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts.
To: EternalVigilance
Are you asking that the terms "unappeasable and principle/s" not be used on FR?
Is FR a forum for discussing our views or would you prefer that it become a rally forum without debate of the issues? Yes, I do agree that personal attacks and slurs have become much too common on FR, but this is a matter which Jim and the moderators have been attempting to solve, without much success. Emotions rather than calm discussion have taken over most of the 'hot issues'.
Many have locked their brains into 'what I believe is the truth and every other idea is false therefore the poster is a liar."
This attitude will bring our entire country down, not just FR.

That's not what I mean.
What I mean is that the way these words are being used by certain folks are being used as tools to cast aspersions on all conservatives.
It's really not that subtle.
They should at the very least be met with scorn from those who believe in honest debate.
To: B4Ranch
I agree with you.
And no, I don't want FR to be a rally forum. That's why I wasted hours of my life last night on this thread.
To: EternalVigilance
It is no more or less offensive than those who as you say toss around the "principle" phrase.
Sticks and stones and all that.

Certainly those who claim principled conservatism as their own and don't demonstrate it open themselves up for derision.
But the conservative-bashers have picked it up as one of the tools they use to deride conservatives every day around here now.
That's wrong.
It is a direct attack on what FR is all about: principled conservatism.
What they are really promoting is unprincipled liberalism, or at the very least political hackdom.

"Their disapproval of his record is more important than allowing a lefty Kennedy loving John Kerry to win the Presidency.
I don't ask them to like Bush, certainly not to love Bush.I ask simply for their help in protecting the nation against the democratic take over of the oval office. There IS a difference."

Well said.

You're still asking for a speech code. The problem is the attitude behind the words. Bullying and browbeating occurs on all sides of the 'what is a conservative today' arguments. There's not much one can do about that except try to not be a bully or a browbeater and stand up to those who are.
To: tgslTakoma
The excellent original post was meant to make people THINK.
REAL conservatives would NOT even consider helping a RAT get elected.
Those who keep criticizing Bush, and are agitating other to not vote or vote for a third party, might as well put on a "Vote for Kerry" button, because that is exactly what they are doing. And those who are working to get Kerry elected are NOT conservatives in any sense of the word.
PERIOD.
As the old story goes, you can take a pig, put lipstick on her and call her Josephine, it's still a hog.
People can run around, claiming to be conservatives, but when their actions help the Democrats, they are NOT conservatives, deptie their protestations.
