he is trying to lead the country, to broaden the party. If he broadens the party anymore, they should start calling it Republicrats or Demicans. I know he's desperate to win this election, but hopefully he and Rove are hearing what many of us have been saying for a long time.

"It was intense, but I was not surprised at the tone of questioning during Rove's session," said Rep. Tom Feeney, Florida Republican. "But then this was supposed to be a no-holds-barred discussion, and our constituents are upset."

"I would say 97 out of 100 of our members who asked questions laid into him pretty good about spending and the lack of discipline on the administration's part," Mr. Feeney said. How many of them voted against the budget? That's what I thought.

Personally think, unless they have another Republican they think can run and win; then they ought to shut up.

Yes .. this is good news. Our emails and phone calls are producing results.
But I loved this statement, "in supporting a freeze ... want the president to take the lead on this".
Hmmmm? I'm assuming they want Bush to take the lead because they don't want to have to deal with the flack if people start complaining because they can't get the funds they want for some pet project.

I sure hope they grilled the President on the partial birth abortion ban, those nutty tax cuts, his unbelievable stand on the sanctity of marriage and his leadership on the war on terror/sarcasm/

I received a letter from The Republican National Committee asking for money.
I wrote across it in blue marker "Bush's Immigration Policy" and mailed it back to them.
Think they'll get the message?

"I just got the results of a poll in our district, and it's 2-to-1 against the president's immigration plan," a House member said confidentiallyWell DUH. Crips, what a bunch of dumb a$$es. Even their poll was off the mark, as it probably is closer to 3-1.
These people are actually in charge of something?
Frightening!

bump for the funny pictures of Hillary, great pictures of beer, sabertooth rattling, and voices from the din.
Christopher Guest (Mr. Roger's voice): "Can you say, 'Egg McMuffin?' "
Bill Murray (Rock bass player as Roger's neighbor): "Eggamuffin."
Guest: "Do you know what time it is now? It's time for the Magic Kingdom."
Murray: "No no man, it's way too early for that!"

Growing frustration over President Bush's immigration plan and lack of fiscal discipline came to a head behind closed doors at last weekend's Republican retreat in Philadelphia.
House lawmakers, stunned by the intensity of their constituents' displeasure at some of Mr. Bush's key domestic policies, gave his political strategist Karl Rove an earful behind closed doors.

... to broaden the party. To continue along this muddy path is to alienate the core.
Better to define this party once and for all and let the Jeffords-types (there are legions) bail out. The Specters, Collins, Snows, Warners and the rest need to be booted.

I'm not certain that our voices are being heard. What I got out of that article was that though the White House is getting an earful, but is unmoved:
-----
"Mr. Duffy said the president delivered a passionate defense of his immigration plan, telling the Republican caucus that his policy is not a political ploy.
'He said he didn't do it for politics [but] because that's what he believes is good for the country," Mr. Duffy said, adding that Mr. Bush drove his point home by saying, "I'm from Texas and I know this issue.'"
-----
No, Mr. President. You're from Washington and you don't even begin to understand this issue.

Karl Rove is a political whore.
If Bush WINS, Rove is a successful whore. If he loses he is a failed whore.
Does he remind you of any FReepers?
